Default Match Thread: India vs England third ODI

England posted a total of 281/8 after being told to bat by India. That score is being considered too little by England supporters and too much by Indian supporters. That means the match is well poised. If the Indian big guns fire, this could be another closely fought match. This tour has given us some thrilling cricket already.

Even dada is gone now. Yuvi is playing well. This match is evenly poised now.

Dhoni gone. A bad ball to get out on.

But, just like Tendulkar earlier in the day, it's neither kept down nor hit high up and travels to Paul Collingwood at a comfortable catching height, even if at scorching pace. Collingwood latches on to the chance - he's not like to miss these - and the bowling change has worked. Huge wicket for England with India still needing 92

8 overs 72 needed. 9 runs per over, 5 wickets remaining. If Yuvi stays India has a chance.

Chawla gone. India is running out of batsmen now. Yuvi is still there for his 50. He missed out on that stat in the last game.

Yuvi manages him to get out once again. This time it is a runout. didn't see his 50.

Yuvi 45. India 214 / 8.

indians play like headless chickens and they pay for it.

why did gangu score 72, eating up 104 balls? that effectively means the other batsmen had to score real quick, finally yuvraj giving up his wicket by a meaning less run out. this was always on the cards because of the tortoise innings by gangu. if u play for more than 1/3 rd of total deliveries faced by the team u should make sure u have atleast a SR of 80-90% and this guy is playing for so many years!! with their slow fielding unit i thought india was happy to chase 280 odd which was gettable by their so called "experienced" lineup. remember england is playing without flintoff.

india need to get rid of their old baggage, with sehwag and pathan, india may have coasted home easily today.

good to see the new england face. Good contest but all credits to the English team. I was impressed with the english pacers, especially trimlet, even being hit for so much he made a comeback and took out the dangerous two. THis english side is becoming a formidable as the test side. If pietersen clicking and return of flintoff, oh boy aussieland should get some beating.

I was asking the same question. its good for his stat. But does it help India chasing moderate to big totals? Is he our Gullu of India for their ODI team?

no he is much more self-ish and unmannered, ganguly is better than javed interms of cricketing skills but he is no match for javeds manners and behavior, javed is much better than ganguly in those things.

Most importantly India's poor fielding cost them the match. Dada ofcourse cannot run, field and score at run a ball. I say its time for robin uthappa or a Gambhir in the line up. i cannot imagine how much England would have scored if piyush chawla was not bowling this well.

time for the men in blue to pull their socks up and do some fielding practice.

cheers !

At first, when Chappel was there I wanted Ganguly there so that the rift would divid the team and in the WC they would lose to BD. However, I did defend dada's knock in the WC. The WC loss wasn't because of any Indian batsmen. It was heroic, once in a blue moon, shock-awe batting by the BD teenagers. Here now I would defend dada again. When wickets fall, on the other end, any opener would have to consolidate and make sure he is not in the mix of a collapse. 10 overs 80 runs needed is no issue if you have 6/7 wickets in hand. So Dada's approach to this game was perfect. Noone could support him. Even if he had a 90 SR (higher than Bell) today India would still come up short. So no, he is not at fault in my humble opinion.

Thought India would clean house after the WC and give new ones shots (dada, Tendu, Shewag all should have made room for others in ODIs). That is not happening. This team with grandpas have significantly lost a step in the fielding category.
