They dropped Nafis! I really don't understand their logic att all. He is more suited for ODI than TEST at this level. Who is going to open with Javed? Bashar?

I like Najmul's inclusion though.

Hard to swallow the news about Nafeesbeing dropped! He must be injured or not match fit at the last moment. I don't find anymore valid reason. This is silly the way the team management always keeps us in dark.

It is Rajin who should be dropped not Nafees or Aftab or JO.

I think seectors logic is that they replaced one top order barsman (Nafis) with another (Bashar).

aftab can be easily dropped instead of nafis. i also think he got unfit about match. otherwise, there is no reason.

I don’t see much different between aftab or nafis. They are both mediocre like rest of the top order. so either one will do for the starting XI.

ps: I see one of the umpire is BD .

"We have decided to field three all-rounders sacrificing one batsman and that's why Nafees was left out. But he is very much in the side for the next two games in Dhaka," he said.

Bangladesh might open with other local boy Aftab Ahmed and Javed Omar while Bashar will come in at his customary number three position followed by Mohammad Ashraful, Rajin Saleh and wicket-keeper Khaled Mashud. Then it will be the turn of three all-rounders -- left-arm spinner Mazarul Islam, Khaled Mahmud and Mohammad Rafique.

Young Nazmul Hossain will share the new ball with experienced Tapash Baisya.

The wicket at the MA Aziz Stadium is expected to produce a lot of runs.

I hope the selectors are right. Deep inside, I'm afraid they just comitted yet another tiny mistake, akin to those 'shukko karchupy'.

With another batsmen, will could atleast try to score high runs vs whatever score they manage to pile up.

Its the ICC system... ODI series gets one Home umpire and one neutral umpire.... I dunno if its the same case in Tests tho... But thats the format for ODIs

Nafees last 2 innings in the test weren't good. I think that's why he got dropped. He's not injured or anything. Since Ash opens with JO in ODI, they didnt feel that they need Nafees. I am pretty sure Aftab is playing (as our No. 5 batsman). Since Mushfiq is dropped - means Rana is playing. So we are seeing Tapash + Nazmul openning, Chacha coming as change and Rafiq & Rana in the middle.

If I were the selector, I would have taken 6 batsmen (Nafees in place of Nazmul and Ash No 5, Aftab 6). Its time for BD to put a good score (225+) - NOT TO WIN.

I dont know if its a mistake or not... with Ashraful opening and Bashar in the side its hard for the team to have Nafees playing... he is a player who either has to open or go first down... Aftab is more of a number 4-5 in the order... it is something of a negotiation with the lineup and the whole 13 man squad.... and in case aftab doesn click they have nafees to fall back on anyways... so no real harm done...

no big blunder with the team selection from where i see it... Nafees or Aftab no big difference honestly speaking... both of them are new and have loads to prove....

According to DS (as mentioned by Chinaman above), Aftab is opening with Javed not Ashraful.

Personally I feel more comfortable with Nafis opening rather than Aftab. May be he will prove me wrong.

Default U-15 cricketers\' third in a row

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) U-15 team won their third consecutive match against CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) U-15 when they dumped the visitors by eight wickets at the BKSP ground yesterday.

Having bowled out the CAB U-15s for a paltry 136, the home side raced to 137-2 in 21.4 overs, thanks to opener Amit Majumder's blazing 88 not out off 66 deliveries.

Amit, who shared 96 runs with Mithun Ali (40) for the opening stand, hit six fours and three sixes.

Earlier, Moazzem Hossain grabbed 5-33 from ten overs to destroy the CAB innings.

Would someone be kind enough to hand this match report to our seniors asap?

good news, even in the age group, we need to see some win. too, too tired of seeing looses.

CAB needs to call some cab and head toward airport

.If you look at our performance in the Asia Cup and the ICC Champions Trophy, you will see that our batting has let us down in almost every one of the matches. Recently the trend has gone down from sub 220 to sub 150 scores. With this in mind, I feel that playing Mashud at 6 is spreading our batting too thin. Of the three "allrounders" selected only manzarul can lay any claim to be a regular contributor with both bat and ball. Rafique is surely in the team as a bowler while if Mahmud's recent batting performances are anything to go by , we are not seeing any scores of significance from him. Aftab's selection in place of Nafis also raises some questions. Not only did Nafis perform creditably in the last ODI series, he is a regular opener unlike Aftab who is more of a middle order batsman. I believe that the number of runs Bashar and Ashraful scores will largely shape our innings. Our bowling also lacks sufficient potency and with big hitters like Cairns, Astle and Co....New Zealand can pile up the runs if they bat first.
Laying all doubts and anxieties aside I hope Bangladesh can turn a corner today and play with the zest and vigor we know that they are capable of. GO TIGERS!!

well i don't wanna see ash to open with the bat, cause if he gets out, we are dead. and we always lose at least one wicket in the first couple of overs.

about 5 minutes to go. Best of luck to the Tigers! Forget about the past...and go and fight it out in the middle. Godspeed!

Who ever the openers are Ash or Aftab, good luck him.
I don't see much difference between Nafees and Aftab.
So I am happy with the selection.
