Selectors can pick a player on form or whimsically going with gut feelings. But the player will remain in the team through performance. Format becomes important. Picking Sabbir and Sarkar for test and ODIs would be mistakes at this point until they they show temperament in local league games. Learn from mistakes.

Uncapped local league heroes should come through Academy/A team and then national team route. National discards should have direct entry once they regain form (if the players to be replaced in the National team are struggling/not performing).

What happen to Nasir and Anamul?

I did say our domestic is one of the worst to judge a player based on form/runs!

People think our players improve in our domestic scene when they get dropped.

Fact of the matter is they get by just fine with their shoddy technique and deficiencies. In the process we all go gaga over them and cry for their return

(you were waiting to Anamul to fail to revive this thread?)
Why didn't you answer my question? Here it is for you a second time. (Thread killer)

I have belief in Sarkar. I think he has the talent to set ablaze the local leagues. If he can destroy Intl attacks at home field, WHY wouldn't he dominate local mediocre bowlers on those same fields? SportingBD answer me that first?

Soumya is lacking on mental aspect of his game.
His a Mushy in the head.

Going through a very tough mental phase of his career.

Needs backup and trust! Not people/coaches abandoning him.

Soumya many times better than Anamul, no doubt.

Stop the excuse. Please. Reread your post. If he lacks something then he is not to be opening for the team. Same thing can be said for anyone. Junaid/S Nafis/anyone.

Cricketers go through this kind of phase/patch in their career.
This is when you need coaches/captain etc to trust them.

Soumya has already proven how good he can be for Bangladesh.
In his hardest time at international, he needs the utmost backing/support.

Not kick him out to our domestics. Players don’t improve in our domestics.
All our current seniors have improved being with senior team.

Not in international cricket for an established team. Fundamental flaw in understanding International cricket. Especially when the position is an opening slot/top order and enough chance given.

The only way he could remain with the team if he was dropped in the lower order. But those positions are already taken.

There are exceptions for talented players.

Colin Munro/Jason Roy/Kusal Mendis all of them don’t have great figures in ODI last 1-2 years, but still they are persisted with. Why? Because they bring different sets of class/skill to the team, hence teams aren’t too worried about their form. They are special players that can change the game any moment.

None had a long run of no scores. Even then all three got dropped to their domestic leagues. On top of that Sarkar was persisted with by the coach way beyond his expiration date. Read my first post of the thread. Some what Consistency is needed to claim a spot. Team can't carry liability day in day out in the top order. It puts extra pressure on the entire team/rest of the players.

Ashraful was exceptional talent. Twice what Sarkar was.

Liton, mosaddek, shanto. These are the consistently performing youngsters, they've also been tagged as talents (from a young age), these are the types of players that need extended chances.

Sarkar like Sabbir is very talented but neither have had good consistent domestic scoring so if they have a good run of scoring with the national team it can be considered a purple patch but unless they maintain a decent level of consistency when out of form then we can assume these types of players are only worth selecting when in form and when out of form they're not worth selecting. Hence domestic consistency becomes a very important tool for selection and something these players should think about seriously if they want consistent selection with the national team.

Been 17 years, and still BCB havent found a way

Coaches one after another have said make domestic cricket competitive, yet we keep on playing picnic based first class cricket. And of course our BPL's and DPL's are way for corporates, MP's ex players to boost their ego.

It should of been improved in the mid 2000s ie 2005-2012. We have now dug a hole so deep we cannot climb out of it and our domestic system has done more harm than good.

We need a management maestro to repair and introduce controls to ensure talent is identified and nurtured through all the stages of a players lifecycle. That way we can produce players like Markram,Khawaja,Ben Stokes and De Kock.

Zimbabwe has a better domestic system than ours.
