A'ight Ponty, you know what you are doing! :D
For the longest time, Ian has been a fan of Bangladesh Cricket and of BC. He's mingled with us fans and explained, often in vain that he's more than just a bowling coach. That there are some fundamentals of motivation and establishing role clarity that translate into success on the field. Many of us have loved his passion. Some have not, especially after the protjapoti hype balloon bursting.
Yet look at what he's done:
1) Taken an assembly of all-stars, often with shifting set of available players, and won two consecutive BPL titles. Many will say Dhaka could buy all the players then wanted. But as NY Yankees or Chelsea or PSG or CLT20 shows, having a team of galacticos does not guarantee ultimate success.
2) He accomplished #1 while not getting paid (at least no where on time). And with the players often not getting paid either (though apparently some don't know their own bank account #s)!
3) He rotated his local players and their injury challenges (Mash, Shak) and even got something out of Da Rok.
3) He got - and I submit as the piece-du-resistance - Mr Ashar-ful to deliver, semi-consistent performance two years in a row!!! The same Ashraful who couldn't buy a run in NCL! Bigger names (deshi and bideshi) have failed to do that.
So hats off to you Ian. Congrats & Kudos! You done good. You know what you are doing and thus you knew what you were posting about all this time. Now can you please fix our pace-pipeline? Pretty please?
