BD preliminary squad announced for WC qualifiers round

Bangladesh national team management committee announced the preliminary 27-man squad for World Cup 2014 Asian Qualifiers Round One on Friday.

Bangladesh will play their home match against Pakistan on June 29, 2011 at Bangabandhu National Stadium and away on July 3, 2011 at Punjab Stadium in Pakistan.

The winners from Round One will progress to the second round which will also have a home-and-away format on July 23, 2011, and July 28, 2011.

Twenty teams, including the winners of the second round, will be divided into five groups of four teams each. The winners and runners-up from each group will advance to the fourth round after playing in a home-and-away format.

Ten teams in the fourth round will be divided into two groups of five and top two teams from each group will qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. This round will have a home-and-away format.

Third-best teams from Round 4 will play home-and-away in Round 5 and the winner will qualify for a Round 6 playoff against a team from another continent to qualify for the FIFA World Cup.

Squad:
Goalkeepers: Aminul (Sk Jamal), Biplob, Nehal (Muktijoddha), Mamun Khan (Sk Russel).

Defendence: Rajoni, Yamin Munna (Muktijoddha), Ariful, Rezaul, Nasir (Sk. Jamal), Mamun Mia, Linkon (Abahani), Uttam Banik (Sk Russel), Yusuf Khan (Brothers).

Midfield: Mamun, Zahid, Shakil, Komol, Meshu (Sk. Jamal) Matiur Munna, Maruf (Muktijoddha), Raju (Sk Russel).

Attacking: Ameli (Sk Jamal), Mithun (Muktijoddha), Shakhawat Rony (Abahani), Yusuf (Sk Russel), Sohel Rana (Farashganj), Jamal Bhuyan (Denmark).

Bangladesh have included Danish-born midfielder Jamal Bhuyan in their provisional squad for next month's 2014 World Cup qualifier against Pakistan, making him the first European-based player to be called up.
"For some time we have been scouting talent among Bangladeshis living abroad and Jamal is the one we are really looking at," said Badal Roy, chairman of the national team management committee.
"We saw his game on the internet and talked to him over the phone. He is really keen to play for Bangladesh," said Badal.
Jamal, son of a Bangladeshi family living in Denmark, was born and brought up in Copenhagen and played for FC Copenhagen, one of the country's top clubs, at under-19 level.
The midfielder, who moved to second tier team Hellerup IK on a free transfer in 2009, was brought to the attention of Bangladesh by an agent, officials said.
Jamal, who has a Danish passport, will have a trial under Bangladesh's Croatian coach Robert Rubcic who will then decide whether to include him in the final 18-man squad.
Bangladesh face Pakistan in the first leg of their Asian zone first round qualifier on June 29 in Islamabad with the return leg in Dhaka on July 3.
The winners will face Lebanon in the second preliminary round. Although soccer is hugely popular in Bangladesh, the national team is a lowly 163rd in the FIFA rankings, five places above rivals Pakistan.

Do you think we ever can get qualified for world cup??!! I feel hopeless about football.

Forget the World Cup, we'd be lucky to qualify for the Asian Cup in this century. Why?

1) Can't run after the first 20 minutes.

2) Can't string together more than 3 passes at any given time.

3) Can't finish more than 1 out 10 chances, in Emily's case, 1 out of 25!

4) Suck at set pieces.

5) Corrupt morons running things.

we will qualify for soccer world cup when all other teams will stop playing football

We can only pass 1st round which wil be held against Pakistan probably and then stop our journey.
