I hate to use the word "deadweight" today. Without Aftab and Ash there could be no Cardiff. Nafees helped us win many Zimbabwe matches. So yes it would be tight competition but I wouldn't go as far as to label them "Deadweights" or say, "untouchables"
excellent post Zeeshan Bhai, i guess i opened the thread out of emotion..totally agree with you about the second para

I don't think Naeem is a deadwood though. Imrul too isn't really a deadwood yet.

Nobody is a dead weight until they effectively cross their age of a sportsman or loses fitness like Aftab .....

NW bhai is very worried about losing his own extra (Dead) Weight ... Jogging, going to Gym, Diet etc are 24/7 in his brain......so its natural that he will be in a hurry to get rid of all dead weights...all over the world.......

IK can be useful in ODI and Naeem is excellent in test. Selection should depend on current performance, like in AUS. That is the best way.

I really hope these young guns stick around and don't want to see the dead weights cause they r proven failures.

Depends. If Nasir, Mominul, and Anamul can't sustain their consistency then these guys might make a comeback. If they do continue to play well then they won't come back. The reason Ash has come back so many times is because whoever came in didn't cement their place, hence leaving the door open.

Lets hope that they continue to do well and I'm confident they will

We're talking of tests right? You might as well get Ratul/Mominul in then, he'd be awful in non-conductive pitches. Shahadat bowled OK in the 1st Test. The only ones I can think of is Shafiul and Alauddin Babu.

Sorry bro but Shahadat needs to go. After all these Tests and he's still averaging a 50 with the ball? In 2011 he averaged 200+. How much more time he needs? I'd much rather have Abul in. And then later on bring in Taskin and Kamrul Rabbi. These guys might struggle initially, but I'm sure you give these guys as much chances Shahadat has gotten and they'll have better averages. I'll admit I had hope for Shahadat 1 time but his attitude is a big no no for this team.

so many options instead of shahadat. first there is rubel and nazmul, we also have shafiul but there's also sajidul, abul is probably equal to shahadat but is still developing and has batting skill, we've got guys like alauddin, dollar, kazi kamrul, al amin, abu jayed, taskin etc making there way through and up the ranks.

the batting is becoming strong, even the back-ups. shuvagata, marshall ayub etc are good back-ups imo. plus the current team is stacked with good batsmen and shakib needs to come back so the batting bench is becoming quite strong. i mean we can all say naeem is horrible but in reality he's a lot better than BD batsmen of past even if he is a little slow for ODIs

I felt "or any of the fabled players before them" covered them all. Simply too many to name.

7 shuvagata
8 mash
9 gazi
10 razzak/sunny
11 rubel

Sorry to add a little bit of pessimism but we ve seen some these so called deadweight players play similar knocks in the past. Anamul seems like a batsman of a different league altogether-but the same could have been said about Ashraful, Nafis Iqbal when they started. The big test for Anamul, Mominul will be in the next 10-15 ODI's. Can they keep up with what they have shown. This reminds me of the article Ian Pont wrote. Our guys shouldnt be satisfied with only a century or a half century. They should rest on this and relax for the next 5 games. They should work even harder, try to improve from where they struggled in the previous match, so for Anamul how he can convert more dots to singles. But if Anamul decides to relax like some of our other talent, then the problems will arise again

I love it how young guys are graduating and playing well. Anamul has already showed it and Mominul is showed glimpses of it. But i would still love to cram Imrul into the team. I dont mind Naeem. I would definitely want him in our test team but not in our ODI team. I dont think he is the permanent solution to the #3 position.

I dont mind Abul in the team but i still find it dubious how Rubel is left out. He is the strike pace bowler of the team.

Would personally like to see Shakib bat at 3 in ODI's ant T20's. Naeem will probably be 12th man once Shakib comes in. Perhaps BCB wants to convert Abul into a Thisira Perera type player.

I think Shakib should replace Riyad...not Naeem.... He is much better now with the bat than Mullah and Mullah's bowling isn't needed when Shakib comes in....
