Default What did you want to be when you got older, and did you achieve your goal.

I wanted to be an engineer, decided later as I got deeper into my schooling.

In my 4/5th year of University, I am pretty close I can say.

How about you?

Wanted to be an army officer since childhood . There is something about their stature that appealed to me ..

Never happened . Or anything remotely close.

I wanted to be an astronaut when I was child... celestial bodies always fascinates me...
but I felt in order to understand the infinities I first need to realize the smallest entities.. Now I work with the atoms..

But I hope in future I will be able to contribute to making something that will be helpful for them in space..

Same here, I had an obsession with being an airforce fighter pilot , but I landed back to earth when I realised that I was fat and overweight at THAT time. I wanted to fly the
F/A-18 Super Hornets you see on tv. But I got into engineering later on, don’t know if should apply as a software engineer in the army.

I wanted to be biker with my own gang and signature jackets, then I grew up a little and learned that riding and all is cool but don't pay the bills so becoming an engineer instead. The biker inside me is still alive and I go on a trip in every couple months or so, this adjustment is working well for me so far.

Oh and yes I also wanted to write and direct my own movies someday and become Indian del Toro or Polanski, but that was more like a wet dream, kind of dreams you know never gonna happen right after you dreamt it. I don't wanna persue this anymore, there is a nice status-quo in my life now, I don't aim to change that.

You must have long sleepless nights, in Australia electrical and electronics engineering is combined , it is by far one of the most hardest engineering, you must be extremely fluent in mathematics. Or be prepared to leave with a sore posterior after every lecture

No one else was aspiring to be a cricketer?

All engineers, pilots, astronauts.

No poets, artists, writers?

As a child, I wanted to be...
An architect
Or an honest Police Officer like a Daroga in and around Branhmanbaira SHodor or Akhaura/Agartola Border area
Or a good Tehari cook
Or a veterinarian
Or the President of Bangladesh

As a teenager...
I wanted to be a nuru masseuse and a bodybuilder

Indeed became an architect and also somehow
ended up being a somewhat of an artist as well as a shada khoddor ponjabi wearing Kobi.

We have like a half a dozen software engineers in the family, I didn't wanna be another addition to that list. but the thing is I will probably have my first job as a software engineer lol as core companies doesn't visit the campus too often and I am eligible to appear for interviews for software jobs.

You are quite right having a solid base in mathematics really helps in IC programming and pretty much all kinds of programming lol.

As a kid I wanted to be 6 foot tall, good looking (Melrose Place and Beverly Hills 90210), rich successful white guy with lot of friends having graduated from Harvard.

Instead, I became a 5 foot 7, good for nothing Hill billy, broke bum lonely that didn't even graduate from community college.

I always wanted to be a lawyer who was also a famous p*rn star. But after considering the shame and humiliation I would be bringing my family, I decided to no longer pursue law.

Wanted to be a footballer, played till under 15s local team, was obsessed played football almost use to play it everyday. But unfortunately lost directions mid highschool due too many distractions and worldly stuffs. At 14 lowkey wanted to be cricketer then the passion and love grew more about being one since I felt neglected football and felt it be more hard work trying to get into footie now hence cricket is of a much lesser hard working game fitness wise (it was back then only last 5-6years fitness levels improved but still nowhere near football).

(Lowkey). still haven’t given up on cricket. Had stuffs happened recent years, mind not been right. But Misbah is my inspiration, if he can make it at 33/34 then went on to become one of Pakistans great and best captain especially at test. We all can be inspired!

Future.. this summer coming up, might get nikkah, i feel after setlling down I’ll be able to focus on cricket. If not this summer getting nikah, then definitely will join for local cricket team. Just needs one to spot you. Bieber got spotted by Ushar on Youtube and look where he is now.

As they say...
When there is life, there is hope.

congratulations! But if you think you can pursue your passion after getting married i think you have a surprise waiting for you. It's easier before when there aren't any interference.

I wanted to be:

* a Pilot
* an Astronaut
* A Cricket player representing Bangladesh
* Nobel Prize Winning Physicist.

None of that happened. Alhamdulillah. At this point, I am very happy with the way things turned out.
