Default Team for World Cup!!!

Is it right time to add Rahim as Wicket keeper Batsman in ODI squad so he will cope himself in international level before World Cup?

nah. pilot should be the keeper in the squad for the world cup. i am not sure there will be a place for rahim in the odi squad even in 2007, but let's see how things go.

Why is the "thumb down" though? Is it because you are not happy with even your own idea?

WC to BC!

Thanks Flipper Bhai

Well thumbs is down cos...is pilot should be out of ODI?; I know it sounds tough to get rid on pilot. But he seems doing good in Test Cricket. Meanwhile Rahim in his top batting form. Great wicket keeper Batsman like Dhuni, akmal, Gilchrist, sangara gonna make a big diffrence 2007 world cup. Rahim falls into this category need a lots of practice in international level though. Masud going down in ODI. If pilot injured just before WC it will really tough for Rahim to cope in ODI.

I strongly support pilot for the world cup. He is tested and safe hand wicket keeper bangladesh have ever got. I agree his form is not going well on oneday cricket but musfiqur rahim is too young to take the globes i think. Or may be we should give musfiq a chance to bring maturity in international level soon and give him chance to play few ODI match in case pilot injured before WC.

well if pilot's performance is going down now imagine what's gonna happen by the time 2007 comes... i mean i know pilot is the best we got and most experienced.... but if u ever saw rahim play you'll definately change your mind.. if he gets use to playing oneday now by the time world cup comes he'll be all set to go.. this kid got some mad talen!!!!!!!!

off topic, but can someone tell me how is Dhiman doing in the league? He was once thought to be the one to replace Pilot in the future.

Rahim is a real Gem. But, at this moment Pilot is far suparior with the gloves!

yeah, i would like to know about dhiman too. mcinnes used to hold him in high regard, AFAIR. hope he shines - should be a good prospect if he can make it to the national team 2/3 years from now.

mushfique seems to be a better choice right now, though; however, you can't write off dhiman's batting capabilities either.

now that these players (shafaq, dhiman, etc) have graduated from the U-19, we should look at creating more opportunities for them via the A/HP teams. i hope we are taking proper care of these talents. the HP would be an ideal place for them to be.

Not sure about Rahim at this point - he should or she should not. But one thing is we definitely need to get a replacement for Javed Omer before WC.

or maybe javed omar can stick around for until the end of the world cup. he does have experience on his side, and didn't do too badly in the odi's.

thinking about the composition for the WC squad may be a bit early, but a worthy topic nevertheless. it would be awesome if we could find a specialist third pacer too; we may not really need one in the WI - aftab could probably get the work done - but would be nice to know that there's one that we can rely on in case picks 1 & 2 don't click.

grooming some of the current U-19's/U-19 graduates wouldn't be a bad idea either, although i don't see anyone coming up within a year or so, but you can never tell.

You dont take a novice keeper to the World CUp.

Either Rahim gains more experience through more ODI's before the Cup , or Pilot's form deteriorates even more

Theres no other way Pilot gets dropped from the Squad

pilot is a great player and he still has 2 or 3 years of cricket in him. and we still could select mushfiq but only as a specialist batsman and if any one has to get axed it should be javed

in the context of world Cup javed must axed from the team. He will not have a little chance to do well in WestIindian cricket ground. He already 29 !!!(who would believe that... at least 35 as i know)...he will be too old by this time.... He has to go out..like india did for ganguly. and they are doing great without the prince of calcutta. They have done it for the sake of World Cup squad.

let u19 play. do u know evn with pro-young policy of India we have the youngest team in terms of average age. With the exception of JO, Basher, Pilot and Rafiq all are below 25. These kids are graduated without the rigourus competative environment. may be quality is not high but Rafiq, Pilot, basher played highly competative and presuurized sitution of Abahoni- Mohameddan- Biman game in premire league. and WC is a pressure cooker sitution. With the exception of Mushi I do not want a new face in WC from now. If possible may be Mussy should not be in playing 11
