McCullum to captain KKR in IPL 2009
Brendon McCullum will captain KKR for the entire second season of the IPL. Ganguly and Gayle have been appointed his deputies. After hearing Dada's comments on Mash from Nadim's video I think the rumours that Dada was unhappy with Mash's signing are false. Dada even defended Mash after his first game. We still don't know McCullum's stance on Mash. Do you think this has improved or deteriorated Mash's chances of playing. I also found that Kolkata has an Australian fast bowler Mark Cameron who will be competing against Mash for a place in the XI. Will McCullum prefer him over Mash?

i don't think this will effect on mash coz Mcculam not gonna select the playing XI.......it's mainly up to the coach, SRK

Ganguly fans have gone wild on the KKR website, they are calling names like anything to SRK and Buchanan. This was indeed a very bad move, didn't expect it from SRK who knows the business strategies pretty well, but now he will get the feeling what is KKR without Dada, with this the team KKR has lost all the support from Kolkata. At least if they would have given the captaincy to Gayle then it would have made some sense, but Mcculum is simply a disastrous choice for captaincy, we saw how horrible he was against India as a captain. And about Mash I'm really worried, because by the look of Mcculum he doesn't seem to be a friendly guy and don't know how he will behave with a Bangladeshi.

Lol I know! Absolutely suicidal decision. I can't believe SRK who is so business-savvy didn't anticipate the consequences of this move. When Ganguly was dropped from the India squad Eden Gardens was empty. The crowd that did turn up were supporting the opposition instead of India. If these people can turn against their own country then why wont they turn against a T20 club team? On top of that KKR isn't even owned by Bengalis. It would've been better had they stuck with the multiple captain theory and selected a captain before the match. KKR is finished!
However this may force KKR to move to another venue next season. Dhaka maybe?

Bad decision. McCullum is not a captain material. He is an explosive batsman and captaincy will simply ruin him. On the other hand, Ganguly is by far a good captain. If he gets full support from the management, he can do wonder.

Perhaps this is the beginning of end for Ganguly as a player also. He is hardly worth is place in 20-20 as a batsman or bowler and is a liability as a fielder. KKR would have been stuck with him in the XI if he was the captain.

pathetic decision by shahrukh khan... Saurav Ganguly is the greatest captain India ever produced. SRK, Do not forget he got massive fan following in Kolkata. Millions of people in Kolkata Worship him as God. What the hell make John Buchanan think Mcculam will be a better captain the Saurav. Damn SRK, Damn John.this is bull-sheet. absolute ridiculous

If KKR were playing in Kolkata, it would be a terrible business decision. But as they are not, I am not sure.
What exactly can happen because of it. Ganguly supporters will not watch the KKR matches on TV ? Big deal !

If that's a good cricketing decision, I bet it's even better a business decision. At the end it's cricket that's sold not a lame duck person with even heaps of records.
But I am still in doubt about the decision itself. Lets see how Macculum performs as a Captain.

Winning solves everything. If they can't win this will "bite" big time. No one misses Mark Taylor, Alan Border, Steve Waugh cause Ponting is winning. The moment he start losing (had he lost at SA) we would start missing the old guys. Just like WI misses Lloyd and Richards even now.

With this, KKR, BRC, DC, RR all are now being captained by Non Indians. Delhi also i'm not sure if Shehwag will ultimately retain captaincy.

It is not a coincidence that the first three of those teams finished in the last three places last time.

Right, last time their captains were looking misfit even as a player in this format.

Where in the official news in KKR Website? i cant find it.
Now I am hoping KKR loose the first match and captaincy given back to Dada. I just dont understand why SRK making so much bollywood movie kind off drama on this captaincy issue . first it was Ganguly, then multiple captain theory, then insulting Sunil Gavasker on his t20 knowledge, then again back to Ganguly and now finally Macllam. i am sure this will effect the whole team mentally. i dont think SRK speech before match " Tomare pas serf 20 over baki hay, just 20 overs" wont be enough to save KKR.

Great decision. You know why???
Now that SG is out and there is no "Bangalee" connection in the team, the Kolkatans would turn to the next available Bangalee, our very own beloved Mash.
IF Mash can make a mayheym, given a chance, he would by default, become the favourite KKR amongst its fanbase in Kolkata.
A hero in the making i say. If Mash can shine, he would be the defacto "icon" player of KKR.
Go make your own destiny Mash, next year you'd be our Million Dollar Man.
