scots do know about cricket and how it is played. but they dont have much interest as it is too slow and not as physical as they like:P soccer and rugby are most popular here. if they do play well and beat teams like england in 20-20 there will be more interest.

You are right.

The sporting preferences of Scots are different from those here in South Asia. They have a proud heritage and record in sports and we should respect it.

It is good to read intelligent posts like this.

If you want cricket to expand at some point then there is some logic to the suggestion. However it is not going to happen.

Scotland can be ranked at number 12 in the World having won the ICC Trophy. Whether people agree with these ranking or not the above three teams are in 9/10/11 positions.

So whether it were Scotland or some other team there is the issue of ranking. At some point in the future such a team should get a chance to play teams just above them. With the alteration to permit the top 5 associates to play official ODI matches from 2006 onwards this is becomes a possibility. However it remains to be seen how keen sides are to risk any remote possibility of a loss that would be damaging and how to pay for it all.

As for support the Scots are trying their best and have a long history of the game. Stereotyping of cricket, as even illustrated in this thread, is a real problem. 20,000 came to watch Bradman's Australians in 1948 and there is a sell out of 4,500 for the Australia game this week. (We'll get thumped!) It would have been perhaps twice/three times that but the ground, and safety regulations, can't take any more.

And before there is the usual episode of disparaging other teams I know we're not very good!

But sometime in the future such a suggestion will have to happen for somebody if cricket is to expand.

I think india once arranged a tournament with bd and kenya. So i gues they arranged it win???and then i think kenya beat them in one game.......Ha ha ha

Anyway I am sure, that was not what india had in their mind and so is Bangladesh.

If this suggestion is to expand cricket as a game, then I think is has potential, also it could be interesting to see how new teams perform and improve/ and so forth. Overall there will be more cricket to enjoy.

However I disagree this has anything to do with BD trying to win or nab some extra points or whatever because it's not going to improve our cricket to play at higher level. We need to constantly play, learn from and beat the real threats like Australia, England etc.. Well anyway let's see how BD performs in SL...
