i concur... we lost the series anyways... give shahadat another chance... and bring back nafees for omar, so compensate for our loss today...(omor is a good opener, but it cannot continue if tamim isn't "patient" enough for him, sorry omor bhai...)

i think nafees has been punished long enough...

[QUOTE= I think we have a concern with the bowlers not with the batting selection.[/QUOTE]

yeah, that's why rafique is included... but let's not forget our ashraful is a handy bowler as well. his spin skills are underrated from my point of view(again, based on the simulation game cricket captain 2006).

we do have some experience... don't we?

I am staggered. Aftab possibly is our most complete batsman. The way he plays in the ODI's is because of team needs. Let's face it. Today we could only have won if he had succeeded. There was no one else - other than Ashraful - capable of sustaining the pace.

if that be the case then name me aftab's batting success in tests...hmmm, if he is included in tests he might be a handy bowler?!? and that will put less pressure on mortaza/rasel/shahadat

From the squad my playing XI

1. Javed Omar
2. Shahriar Nafees
3. Habibul Bashar
4. Shakib Al Hasan
5. Mohammad Ashraful
6. Tushar Imran
7. Khaled Mashud
8. Mashrafe Mortaza
9. Mohammad Rafiq
10. Enamul Haque Jr.
11. Syed Rasel

Failure of JO or SN in the first test should bring back Mehrab Jr. in the playing XI for the second test.

No,mushfiq isn't failed,He is the player 4 BD in ODI n for the future.Bt In test matches there r no World Cup.So if any 1 can perform he ill b avialable 4 the test squad.bt in ODI there is always a vision n a dooor for the future,Bt in test match future ill not needed to think,Coz whoevr perform he can play .4 Exmple inzi has no age bt still he ill play test coz in test they r not looking there age n their future.....
Also in test matches Experience ill com heavily

I can understand Tamim and Aftab not getting picked, but what has Pilot done to deserve a call? This superior glove-work argument is utter BS - sure, he's slightly better than Mushfiq in keeping wickets, but I feel we are really missing out on some good batting and long innings that Mushfiq could have provided us with. Pilot's batting is pathetic in comparison.

2. based on the squad, this is the best batting lineup we can come up with in terms of putting a big total and not geting out below 300(that would be dissapointing). habibul can play tests with a relaxed mood than in odis because there is no need to worry about the run rate and batsmen like imran, saleh has great potential to become test leaders(based on the simulation game cricket captain 2006).

3. this lineup would be very questionable for odis but great for tests, shahadat is included,

4.mehrab jr. and enamul jr. are one of the side players of bangladesh. we should give every potential player reasonable chance to succeed, and for that to happen, bashar has to retire soon from cricket(sorry, man....)

5. hehe on other threads i praised mushfiq... but he is not ready for tests yet, needs a great deal of improvement on his keeping...then we can talk about him in the tests ...

inclusion of mashud was a reasonable choice, i am sure he is happy as well
abdur razzak's exclusion may be because the selectors want to give other players a chance and just want to keep him as a second option for tests but the first option for odis..

Bashar should ve play..n after 2 yrs he should b retired 4rm test not before dat..Y..i ve the threds abt it n also dis thread u illl find y.....

Problem with Aftab, Ashraful and most recently Tamim is that they don't last long enough to simply 'change' the current Bangladesh team into a 'respected' team worldwide.

The kind of 'respect' that Bashar had shown over the years in Test cricket.

One unnoticed thing,

Ashraful replaced SN as the vice-captain of the test side.

Ironically, I would have thought Mushfiq's batting is more suited in Tests than ODI's. In fact, his wicketkeeping is the problem.

Understandable why Tamim, Mushfiq and Aftab are not in the squad, but why isnt Razzak? I dont get it. He is the only BD bowler who is in TOP 10 ODI bowler ranking in the world.

Non inclusions :

Tamim : Don't have problem with it. Don't want to rush him in. He is very young and should play ODI's for another two-three years before he is ready for tests. He needs to develop his game more. He needs to learn how to score on the on side, how to play the short balls, how to move his feet and only then I will consider him for a test call. He should be able to expand his game as he is naturally talented with good eye sight. With his natural aggression already in his system, once he enhances his game, he should be a good test player as well.

Mushfique : Love his batting. I think he will be a very good batsman. He could have played just as a batsman. However, his keeping is not a finished product and let offs in tests are magnified ten folds. Patience here.

Aftab : Learn to play spin first. He has no clue with spinners. No team in tests will offer him fats bowlers, instead spinners will have him sorrounded with close in fielders. He is young as well and if he wants to play tests, he must learn that.

My test team : SN ( must play third ODI to get some action before ), JO ( I guess no choice ), HB ( benefit of doubt goes to him ) , TI ( lets see if he can move from A team ), ASH ( keep him at 5..play spinners at will ), Sakib ( I will give him the debut )
Pilot ( keeping is needed for tests and maybe can rediscover himself with bat, big hope ), Mash, Rafiq, Enam , Shahdat.

Why would you pick tamim for test. He cant score more than 50, and he is rash and impulsive. Believe me, he's only 18, and will have plent, pleeeentty of chances to play test later on, when he's more mature.

- Don't know if Rassel should be playing tests.
- Expect to see Mushfiq in the test team within a year
- Aftab & Tamim need to earn their places
- Javed Omar will stay, like it or not until a better batsman comes along.
- Shahadat should play
- No place for Razzak in the team ahead of Enam and Rafique. Enam is a really aggressive spinner, and Rafique just has too much experience.

My test XI

Nafees
JO
Habibash
Rajin
Ash
Sakib
Pilot (Mushfiq will clearly become the better choice in years to come, but I can understand this decision for several reasons)
Mash
Rafique
Enam
Rajib

Rasel can not be included in the side, he is fodder in Test cricket. Looking forward to seeing how Sakib goes in the longer form of the game. Both SN and Rajin are good options in the top 4, as they look as if they have a head on their shoulders, unlike Aftab and at times Ash. and JO hopefully will provide the stability we crave up the top

Also, Aftab is majorly flawed technically. Clearly his overbalancing and falling to the off side will cost him many runs as he will be dismissed many many times playing across his pad. Needs to correct his balance before he can pile on the runs in any form of the game.

By far the worst selection made by this panel. I am very very disappointed to say the least. Whatever chances we had of making a contest out of the test matches has been thrown out of the window. I am no longer interested in following the test series now.

Time and again people talk BS about test cricket no being for aggressive players like Tamim, aftab et al. If this was true then the entire Australian batting line up should be replaced. The game has evolved but unfortunately some people do not adapt well to change and keep thinking in their age old formula fashion. These fans are equivalent to bashar. Bashar follows a script while captaining while these fans cannot think outside the box which is what made the australians the invincible team they are now. Aftab and Tamim have the ability to play long innings and seeing how Aftab has performed in some of the test matches it gives indication of his ability to play test matches. The inclusion of pilot is the biggest crap of a decision in the entire selection process. Mushfique should be playing both forms of the game and there is no two way about it. I also think rasel is not suitable for test matches where mere line and length will not get you any result. Exclusion of razzak is also very unfortunate. He has performed well and should also have been chosen in the test matches ahead of enamul jnr who would come in once rafique retires. JO in the test match is a no no. Mehrab jnr is a better option. You dont need players who can block all day. You need players who are capable of playing long innings but are also adept at taking singles and twos. Mehrab jnr is better in that respect than JO. No point in taking both. I have a feeling Bashar will fail miserably in the test matches too and after this series should retire from international cricket completely along with JO. Overall the worst selection for this panel. Disappointment and shock is an understatement.
