BCB about to appoint Waqar Younis as bowling coach
What do you guys think? New Age is reporting that BCB is all set to appoint the supremo as bowling coach for the pacers. The article also mentioned that BCB refrained from hiring a specialist coach six months ago because Masri and Sharif were injured. They are about ready to make a comeback with Waqar as their coach.

I think its great news. Waqr has lot to offer/teach our bowlers. Reverse swing is something that Masri needs to learn.

Well, well,well... It seems like BCB has gotten their act together as far coaching hiring decisions are concerned. Not a bad coaching hire since the days of Mohsin Kamal.
Will Waqar challenge his charges the first day to bowl faster and/or more accurately than him.(Just to establish who-da-man)... Now, that's coaching session I'd pay to watch.

Another mystery of cricket that I need to figure out. Have they now figured out a routine to teach this reverse swing thing?

Aparently you have to 'accidentally' rub your throat logenze on one side of the ball.

Bangladesherkhela.com reports that Andy Roberts is appointed as a new bowling coach of Tigers and probably he is coming with the BD team on Saturday.

Andy Roberts in my opinion is the better choice though Waqar would have been good too. At first I thought may be Waqar can teach us about reverse swing but the question is would he divulge trade secrets to us? I don't think so. I am also guessing that Andy Roberts will be more professional in his approach, helped by the fact that cultural and language differences should keep the relationship limited to a professional level.

I just read that Waqar has reached an agreement with PCB to become the bowling coach of their National Cricket Academy (NCA), so the original report may have been erroneous. Or may be PCB panicked when they heard we were interested in Waqar and signed him up immediately to make him unavailable.

Andy Roberts as a Bowler
Andy Roberts, one of the fearsome four in the victorious 1975 Prudential World Cup West Indian team. Roberts is still remembered for his pace and accuracy, a dangerous combination! His partners included Michael Holding , Malcolm Marshall and Joel Garner.
Jamaican Holding and Roberts bowling in tandem and were without a doubt the most feared duos in the world at that time. Make the West Indies team invincible.
Roberts made his debut in the 1975 World Cup and went on to play in 16 World Cup matches. He took 26 wickets at an average of 21.23 and at an economy rate of 3.24.
Andy Roberts will always be remembered for creating that special 'cricket magic' seeing a fast bowler coming hurtling down the wicket and sending the stumps shattering.

Our Mashrafee, Talha and Rana, all attended the U19 camp under Andy Roberts in 2001. Andy had high praise for both Talha and Mashrafee. Also, he grilled the press for suggesting that BD would not be able to produce fast bowlers.
