A shout out to Taposh
If anyone knows him, I'd appreciate it if you'd pass this on.
Tapash, mate, you were there for us in the hard years. You kept fronting up, doing what you could, hitting a line and a length.
These are the good times, and you've got a piece of them.
18 June 2005, Cardiff.
You were there. You got Ricky with a straight one, and you got Martyn, and then you got Pup, and we got the win.
The kids have got your spot, and thats how it works, but you have a piece of this, because on the glorious 18th of June, 2005, you showed how Tigers could win.

Nobody cares about Taposh anymore. But How can I forget his contribution for BD cricket. This poor guy used to battle hard during the darkest hour of our cricket. He may not the best bowler like Mash but people should remember him.
I saw his interview in the newspaper recently, he is still playing domestic league and giving time to his family and personal business. He still dreams to come back to the national team but I dont think so that will happen.

On occasion of the world cup, Prothom-Alo, one of the leading newspaper in Bangladesh, published an interview of Taposh Boishya on February 11. The following are some updates on Taposh based on that interview:
Taposh was in the WC squad in 2007, but got injured in this very first match and had to fly back home. Then he joined ICL and never got his place back in the national team. He just finished playing in the Club Cricket League in Dhaka and got 19 wickets in 11 matches. Based on his performance, he still considers himself a contender for a spot in the national team. Recently he had an opportunity to chat with one of the national selectors and asked whether he got any future in the national team. The selector, Akram Khan, told him that they know about his performances in the local league and door to the national team is not yet closed for him.
In his personal life, he owns and actively manages a sports stationary business in Sylhet. He is a proud dad of a 9-month old son. At the time of the interview, he was in Sylhet and preparing to play in the local league there.
Here is the link to that Interview in Bangla

Ahh,, that Tapash Baishya, the bowler who would give his heart out to the game and bowl tirelessly with everything he had.. He was there when Mashrafee was injured (that part didnt change yet!) and carried the mantle for the years when we didn't have any pace attack at all.
Thanks Ian for recalling that unsung hero cricketer who created that shock that inspired Bangladesh team to beat the world champions and we never looked back. That defeat of Australia is when Bangladesh finally declared that their apprenticeship was finally over!!

BanglaCricket pays homage to this hard-working and never-complaining stalwart every day. You'll notice a barely perceptible silhouette of a bowler in the background when you read a BanglaCricket article. Guess who?

Ha! Never noticed it. But I guess that has more to do with that "kool" and nice positioning than anything else?
One thing about Taposh, he doesn't have any haters.

When I started, I picked some pictures to create that effect. And I chose Tapash and Mashrafe because at that time they were our workhorses who toiled hard for us. That it is Tapash is NO accident\.

Always been a Taposh fan ... I specifically remember the 04 away series against West Indies where he bowled magnificently in that ODI series which we should have won 2-1 but our batsmen let us down inspite of a lion hearted effort from Taposh. He was also easily the most impressive bowler for us in that test series as well ...

I was a big fan of Taposh's first 5 delivery. (The last one happened to be a short pitch outside the off and a 4...)

Don't forget his useful contributions with the bat as well. I remember the days when he and Rafique spent as much time in the middle as the top order batsmen...
Funny to think lower order batting was our strength back then given the condition it is in now...

Tapash, I felt, was never comfortable being the 2nd pacer. His best performances came when he was forced to lead our attack. He exemplified the team he played for, limited in scope and talent, but hardworking, and like Zunaid said, he never complained. I am sure the umpires robbed him of many wickets. When I first started following bangladeshi cricket, his name was always a constant in our squads.
Best of wishes in whatever he does, and best of success to him! We won't ever forget your contribution to the legacy of Bangladesh cricket.

That guy always gave his best. He did not have much control with his line and length (at least one boundary ball each over) but he used to pick up wickets. His batting ability is one of the reasons why our tails used to save our faces in those days.

Remember this series? I thought his bowling was world class throughout in that series (Though his bowling figures don't truly justify how well he actually bowled!) and he had created quite a fan base at the time in West Indies :
1st ODI
2nd ODI
3rd ODI

Did our top order batters scored runs at all back then except Mr. 50 (Bashar) and Mr. Ful (Eid innings)? Pilot and Taposh saved our faces often if not always!
All the best to Taposh and his family
