Default ICC may agree to local match officials in Pakistan

In this report here on cricbuzz.

I quote:

Quote:
"In the event of the participating countries deciding that the tour should proceed and the ICC determining that it was unsafe to appoint match officials to the tour, a special dispensation to allow non-neutral match officials to participate in the matches would be required from the ICC Board," the ICC said in a statement on Tuesday following a meeting of its Chief Executives' Committee in Dubai.
Here's my question. If it is too dangerous for the umpires, what about the players? ICC should man up too. If it decides it is too dangerous for the umpires then it should also disallow the match.

Does ICC have the balls to do the right thing? If ICC decides not to send international umpires but not cancel the trip, BD players should revolt. I normally am against such actions, but extraordinary situations require extraordinary action.

I am thinking like a hypocrite. I really care about player's security and don't want any thing to happen to them. But I also want us to play more. After this Asia cup, next tour is Zim and then WC T20. Not a lot of cricket for us. So as much as I want them to be safe, I also want them to see in action.

The action will happen. As per FTP the tour would have happened anyway - but in the UAE or elsewhere outside of Pakistan.

Okay that's a relief. But is it a full series according to FTP? Loitta was talking about only 3ODIs or 2ODS/1T20.

Check the FTP from the tour menu above. The original plan was this:

April 2012 - Pakistan, away. 2 Tests, 3 ODIs (moved from Aug 2010).

:O

But I want my team to play enough cricket, even if that means going to UK to play against Ireland and netherland or calling teams like canada or afghanistan to come and play against us in our home turf

BPL isnt enough, we need a lot FC matches and more importantly intl matches if we are to succeed in world cricket..even if it means playing against lower tier teams. But there is a saying, something's better than nothing.

That's what I said. Read above. The tour would have happened anyway! Just NOT in Paksitan. IT WAS IN THE FTP SCHEDULE. Lotus Kamal has just sold his soul (and quite possibly the lives of OUR cricketers) for the ICC president position.

As long as Rashid Latif is not one of the officials, it will not be the worst.

I understand where you are coming from. I feel the same way too but I love my boys way too much. I dont want to risk the players safety. Since we have an option of holding the series outside of Pakistand, why not utilize it? Kamal is doing this for his own personal interest and it should be stopped...Man I hate that guy.

I can't nevr forget that Multan test, they stole our victory by not giving out to Inzi beat us by 1 wicket. Pak officials r corrupt. If I put away politics part, "non-neutral match officials" decision by ICC is frustrating as per Cricket point of view.

also on CI:
ICC will leave it upto BD and PAK with local umpiring, ICC have no say except match officials.
Who will be the producers of the telecast?

My question too! If ICC thinks that it is not safe for umpires, so be it for the players as well. Just cancel the tour if it is not safe to play cricket in Pakistan at the moment.

ICC's Chief Executive Committee (CEC)stated that it had limited powers to take a decision over safety issues as to whether tours should take place or not. It reiterated that the ICC's role in bilateral series was "limited to considering the safety and security of the match officials after a tour had been confirmed and a security plan produced." The decision as to whether a particular tour should take place or not was, the CEC stated, "one for the participating countries."

The board/player associations of each country can use this as ammunition to deter the tour. But ICC will not and can not interfere.

It is upto Kamal and Ashraf only i.e BCB and PCB only.

Have you heard of an umpire named Shakur Rana? Mike Gatting has...
