I m really excited that I will go to BD next sunday.I passing a very bz time in the shoping mall.
I got a lot of cousin at BD, I ask them what should I carry for them, they reply me latest nokia mobile..therefore I bought 9 mobile set.(can anybody tell me how many handset i can bring with me)
Now I m scare coz i dont know how many mobile r allow at Etihad airlines.

This friday will be my last day at BC b4 coming back.
I will miss all of u guys.

The place to worry is not Etihad airlines but customs of Dhaka Airport. Unless ofcourse you have a mama Chacha... or mamar Friend or ChaChar friend in custom.

Unfortunately I dont have any mama, but looking for one, If anybody have any mama pls help me.

In that case taking 9 cell phones is a no no.... unless you don't mind a free picture published in the local newspaper with a possibility of free bed and breakfast will local police.

9 cell phones? Are you mad? Without any mama chahca, they'll have a field day at the customs.

My suggestion-don't do it or carry a lot of cash.

Mobile phones, I think are taxable items. Just pay the tax. I'm sure the tax is reasonable. The other option is, of course, Mama Chacha.

Let us know how flying Etihad was like...haven't tried it yet.

... the problem with carrying taxable item is .... you cannot go through the green line.... therefore if there are not enough "mokkel" for the customs, you will be the one who will get their full attention. They will open your luggage .... review each item one by one.... will test your patience.... will look for every oportunity to hook you further..... so be prepared for a long long gruelling day ....day at the airport!!!!!


.... on the other hand if you go through the green line with 9 cell phones.... you are taking further risk... if you are caught..... expect the unexpected.

7 atleast..
then I can consider 2 set..

I will take 2 with me,
and 2 in my hand bag, and 3 in my baggage.

If available, buying the phones from the duty free shop in BD...is it an option?

I don't know whether its too late or not.... but it may work for you.

1. Return all except two cell phones.
2. When you go back to bangladesh and all your cousin will ask you "Omio Bhaiya Omio Bhiya.... Amar jonno Ki enecho?". You will say , "Ekta shorochito Kobita ar Bukh bhora Bhalobasha."
3. Some of the them will be happy. But for the more 'nachor Banda' two, give them the cell phones.
4. If there is more than two 'nachor Banda' then buy some from local market.

Will that work? I guess not.

Mouth is not the only option you know.... there are other ways they do things like that.... but cell phone may be too wide....

Omio, don't take any unnecessary risk.

IMo, You can take maximum 3. Two with you and one at luggage.

For security reasons I suggest you carry only one cell phone with you and rest in the bag.
1. Do not declare you have them in immigration. (the risk is high - You may have to explain if caught that all are for personal use, lol all 8 of them)
2. You will see mockkels roaming around for dollar/pounds who would assist you in pushing carts out of the airport. Pay 10 pounds after you get out of the airport safely.

Those mockkels (who have badges but may be off duty) will take care of everything inside the airport beside the luggage area.
3. Do it as bhoddor lok. Declare and Pay Tax.

Hey Omio, no problem in dhaka airport..i just visited dhaka and returned back. dhaka airport has been taken over by Biman bahini and tell you the truth, things are running really quick there. good behaviour and no trouble at all. Immigration and custom officers were so nice there.

I decide to take 7 set,
if i face any problem, i will through out 1/2 set /..

By 10 toy cell phones, keep 3 packets intact, and other 7 change with original (actually you can keep 2 in your pocket without anyone suspecting). then say you have nothing to declare. if you still get caught, say you did not know they were taxable, and keep some green bucks handy.

From your nervousness, I am sure you will get caught if you try to walk through the green line.

Do this, go to the post office, parcel the phones to your address in dhaka, then fly safely, the phone will arrive shortly while you are in dhaka. It will cost you a little, but you will have a worry free pleseant trip.

One suggestion,have sims in all your phones,If they ask you,just say they are your phones.I know one who got 5 phones this way.
