Too early to tell, but even technically, he looks much better than some of our so called middle order bats.

I am sure that particular innings gave shafiul a lot of confidence. He is so unlucky to miss out on two MOMs.

well it's not too early, this shafiul guy can hit 4s and 6s for real...he just needs proper batting training
it's better to train a guy who can play according to the match situation rather than train a guy who doesn't know what to do when he comes to bat everytime

I would be very interested to see what the coaches have to say about this.

I remember the knock in the test match very well and thought he looked very accomplished indeed. He is not a slogger and plays proper cricket shots. He should definitely bat higher than Razzak.

his defense against the raw pace of bresnan, shahzad, anderson on swinging and seaming balls was solid. he was never troubled when those guys targeted his stumps. solid defense or push every time.
however when he played a bit expansively as the situation called for, he survived 3 plays and misses, and sliced one to deep backward point.
nonetheless, he has real potential because he has a cool head, and because he can defend. all he needs is to learn a proper drive shot and he can be decent. hooks/pulls and cuts are more natural shots that he can just work on in the nets.

How do you know Taklu Da was not secretly working with Shafiul for last one year?
May be he was just keeping this secret weapon, for the right moment?

I remember he made an unbeaten 50+ off 20 odd balls to guide Biman victory against one of the better teams (Mohammedan or Abahoni). He definitely has some potential but let's not get carried away. For now though he certainly deserves to bat ahead of Razzak.

Once upon a time... Razzak used to give us some good runs at the end of the batting order.
You would hope that over time, he would be a little bit batter with the bat, not worse.
What happened to him now a days?

think about this line up.....(after the world cup)
1. Tamim Iqbal 2 Imrul Kayes 3. Shahriar Nafees 4. Jahurul Islam 5. Sakib Al Hasan 6.Mahmudullah 7. Junaid Siddique 8.Shafiul Islam 9. Mashrafee Bin Mortaza 10. Naeem Islam 11. Abdur Razzak
all 11 are capable of batting......2 pacers, 4 spinners

it's not about excitement...it's a solution for having a pinch hitter in the national team....shafiul did score a half century against england in test match

Not sure about his batting prowess, but he definitely has the right temperament (which is half the battle).

Taklu DA really needs to consider these options too rather than just concentrating on giving free rides to Junayed & Rakibul.

Dear All,
Why are you all denying the fact that most of us, if not all, thought that we lost this game after the fall of 8 wickets. I want take you back to the moment of after the fall of Naeem, we lost all our hope in ourselves and turned to our Lord for help and He did answer your prayer and now you are giving all credit to Shafiul or Mahmudullah? Where were they game against India or WI? Shafiul did not exist with his batting before, not at least taking through 50+ runs. Come on, give thanks to where it is due or else many humiliation awaits that you will never know where it is coming from. Be thankful to HIM.

I'm going to just savour the win, the last time we thought we had a fast bowling all rounder(big hitter down the order) who could score vital runs for us for years to come....he became a Perma-crock. I am of course referring to Mashrafe, so I'm going to resist any attempts to get too excited, or have big hopes.
Just hope, he continues to work hard to improve his skill set, and when given the opportunity displays that on match day.

If he is developed properly, I think we may have a fast-bowling all rounder like Mash on our hands!
