May Allah bless bangladesh and the Bangladesh Rifles soldiers! May the Al-mighty help us protect our border during this time!

who is leading the BDR troops? someone has to do it! the soldiers alone cannot pull this sort of thing! they cannot possess this kind of organizing capability (no insult intended, don't shoot me now))! maybe lower ranked officers or un-commisioned officers are behind it.
WHO IS GUARDING OUR BORDER NOW?

One person has been killed and at least six people have been wounded in a mutiny at border guards headquarters in Dhaka, Bangladesh, reports say.
There area has been sealed off

There has been no indication that this is a coup, says the BBC's correspondent in Dhaka, Mark Dummett, who is at the scene.

Local media have speculated that the revolt is over pay and working conditions.

The rumour says that the grievances of soldiers started from corruption of higher rank officers connected to the Fund on Anti Price Hike sales initiated during CTG regime. No satisfying solution was reached in today's meeting in the morning and at one stage an officer was reported to shoot a soldier. Chaos broke out after that. All unconfirmed again (Please think before believing).

from the reports, it actually seems a bit more organized than that. So I am not too sure about this.

Rebels seek general amnesty
Star Online Report

A rebel BDR soldier told the ATN Bangla over telephone this (Wednesday) afternoon that they want the government announce general amnesty for the rebel soldiers as precondition of any talks.

He said that they demand immediate withdrawal of the army troops from the BDR Headquarter area otherwise the Parliament Bhaban and the Bangladesh Secretariat and residents nearby the headquarters will be destroyed.

Referring to their long deprivation, they told the viewers of the television that the BDR is not independent in the independent country.

A fierce gun battle broke out this morning inside the headquarters of Bangladesh's border security force in the capital Dhaka after a mutiny by soldiers against their high officers.

Thousands of rounds of gunshots and mortar firing are rocking the BDR Headquarters and adjacent areas in Dhaka as “angry and aggrieved” BDR soldiers launched a violent and armed mutiny against their high command from around 7:45am.

The latest report on NTV was that the BDR has waived White Flag from inside the HQ and has let PM's special envoy Jahangir Nanak ( State minister for LGRD) and another senior level govt official, not sure who, into the BDR HQ for talks.

Things have started to calm down and i'm hoping discussion is already taking place as we speak and we'd come to a solution shortly.

I, to some extent sympathize with these guys, (not for their action but for the cause what created it) how can they live with such poor salaries, if they cannot take bribes from smuglers. This is the outburst of tighter control on bribe, i'm sure. If we want them to be honest, they should be paid enough as well. We might see such reactions in Police as well, if they are pressed for honesty.

However, the approach they have taken wasn't one to appreciate. But what else could they have done to draw the attention of the government?

If NTV is saying about Nanak and Azam getting inside for talk, ATN is saying 14 member Soldier panel arriving at Jamuna (Otithi Bhaban) to talk to PM.

It's reported that Nanak went in and took 14 soldiers with him and went to Jamuna Bhaban to talk to PM.

(related to this event or not) Wife of BDR DG was reported to have embezzled huge money from Rifles English Medium School. One among many other corruption by Army. If Army is with PM they probably wudn't let this go out of control. Poor BDR guys perhaps wudn't get anything! However the act of killing should be punished anyway.

Here's the gossip (not substantiated yet). Apparently the wife had been caught 2 days ago trying to leave the country with 6 crore taka. Then yesterday this current govt promoted 11 army officers serving in BDR.

ON the phone to one of the channels one of the bidrohi soldiers said sth about 11 BDR cars being misused by the top officers for personal duty etc.

On another TV channel one of the bidrohi soldiers elaborated that during Operation Dal-Bhat (the low-price markets during food crisis last 1and half years) the soldiers were promised Tk.150 per day. Many of the jaowans now are supposed to get around Tk.15000 for that duty. Instead they've been renumerated Tk.1500-1600 each. They are angry that crores have been misappropriated during this Operation Dal Bhat period that went into the pockets of the army officers that command them.

Jaowans are also frustrated about low pay, poor facilities compared to army, and the abuse and humiliation the commanding army officers throw out at them on a daily basis. Serving jaowans also have no room for promotion, and there's no internal BDR command structure.... they want army people out, and BDR to have its own Civil/Officer corps.

The jaowans brought these up for discussion at the Darbar, and apparently the DG misbehaved, swore at them. Other army officers attacked a jaowan. There was an immediate reaction from the jaowans who brought out their arms and took over the compound, taking officers hostage. THe jaowans have said that todays happenings have been very spontaneous, and not pre-planned. However they have again and again been expressing their grievances internally throughout over the past few weeks.

Last I saw on TV was that a BDR man in a car, covering his face with a file has entered PRime Minister's Residence. THe news said there is relative calm in Dhanmondi... just sporadic gunshots. Army and RAB are positioned a safe distance away and are not getting ready to attack or anything.

Anything but not killing or shooting around. They are recognized armed force, not amateur school boys. They could have take number of hostages [be it DG, his wife or any army officers], but why need to shoot around and kill people? Something must be very wrong in them and their mind, or got wrong signal from very wrong group / corner I guess.
