but it be nice to see Ashraful and Afridi have a partnership together.
After all we always like to compare the two.

I don't like Ash - Afridi comparison.
|
Unlike afridi, Ash can bat defensively as well.

Oh yeah - for me, Ashraful should be included. Mash bowled OK, but not good enough for inclusion against other bowlers. But... you never know.
Bashar could also get in, but I think Ash has overtaken everyone.
If Aftab hit a 50 or two in the ODIs, then he would have been an automatic inclusion.

Realistically speaking, if we get one position - that should be Mashud. If two - Rafique. As much as we like Ashraful or Bashar there, I think selectors have better options in those positions at their disposal. Let us hope for Mashud and Rafique, but at least I will be happy if Mashud is in.

I can't compare afridi with Ashraful either- a 25 year old man who had scored with three test centuries compared with a 20 year old boy's 2 centuries.I doubt Afridi ever got scores of 100, 94 and 58 in 3 consecutive innings in ODI like Ashraful. Afridi's an allrounder .Come on u guys, be patriotic not ....
I think Ashraful deserves to be in that squad .And yes, Pilot vs sangakara..though sangakarra is a better batsman. The old mashrafee would have too.

Ash should be chose. He can learn some more shots from the best. Since he is young and already proven his skills now all he needs how to play all the time like the best.
Go Ash. Conquer the batting world.

i dont want that prick gavaskar to be the selector whom i beleive is completely anti-bangladeshi....
Dont know how he got such a high position in the ICC.
If he is'nt the selector it would be ashraful b'cos of his current form and mashrafee

I'd be very surprised if Ashraful doesn't get in that Asian XI. The next most likely inclusion is either Aftab or Mashrafe

Thought I should clarify a little more as to why Aftab. He is a great fielder and if they pick a 12th man, that might be from BD and therefore Aftab who fits description of a good player.

Realistically speaking I don't think we will have more than one player in the squad and that again he will struggle to get in the final 11. Who would that be??? Ash is the best batsman in Bangladesh no matter what his statistics say. He is a class act and should be an automatic choice.

I they will keep atleast 1 player from Bangladesh as a courtesy, although maybe Sunil Gavaskar will not want it. :P

Only two players deserve to play for Asia XI, Masfee and Rafiq.
Asraful will be out on the 1st ball, don't forget.

I would rather they don't pick anyone from Bangladesh rather than showing mercy.
I would propose Bangladesh plays against Asia XI in a practice match or to.

Sangakara is a lot better keeper and Kamran Akmal is a lot better opener and a much better batsman than Mashud.
Kamran hit 3 6's of WI opening bowler in the 50th over's last 3 balls. He cuts and pulls as good as anyone. He is a class act but since Sangakara is a more experienced keeper he would do well.
Realistically only Mashrafe, Bashar or Ashraful will get in the squad.
Bashar is nothing compared to Inzamam and Youhana and Indian middle order is packed with good players. I do think they might include 1 BD player only in the playing XI and Mashrafe has a very good chance in making the playing XI at least for 1 game.
But Asia XI doesn;t need Bashar. He is not as reliable as Youhana, Inzy and Indian middle order but Ashraful might get a chance to play instead of Younis Khan, Yuvraj.
I think Rahul dravid will keep because we need him as a keeper.
South Africa is a very good side.
My team for Asia XI
Virender Sehwag
Jaysuria
Inzamam-ul-Huq
Yousuf Youhanna
Shahid Afridi
Ashraful or Yuvraj or Sachin ( if fit)
Rahul Dravid ( keeper)
Chaminda Vaas
Harbhajan or Kumble or Mashrafe or Zaheer Khan
Shoaib Akhtar
Muralitharan ( if he is fit)
Because if the games are played in Africa, we may not need 2 spinners and Mashrafe can play as a 3rd seamer.

With Dravid Keeping we have a very good batting line up and our bowling attack is very good. Afridi can bowl his 10 overs and he is going to be my 5th bowler.
He played really well in SA's cricket league and since then he has been a different Afridi. To me he is best ODI player is Asia.
Ganguly's poor form makes it easy for us to leave him out.
Is Ashraful better than Yuvraj or Laxman ?
