Angry Should x change his/her profile pic?

So guru-shissyo pressuring our beloved Rifat made me ask. Must Rifat really show his fidelty (yes yes pun intended) by changing his profile? Are we really debasing into an ultraconservative, uber-Republican state where we derive sadist pleasure in pointing out how others should live his or her life? For all it matters, Rifat is also American. It's his prerogative. It's entirely his choice. He owes or for that matter has to show us nada.

So if x has a profile pic of country Y, must x change his profile when BD playing Y?

What's this bullying about? I've been off the grid - care to elaborate and point me to the relevant sub-thread?

I am sure it was in jest. But, come'on. I think we are pushing the extremism button a bit too much.

Thats no problem. South Africa are our opponent on the field, not our enemies. If SA players disrespected us, humiliated us...and watever then it wudve been a completely different case. And its not like rifat bhai is supporting Amla and his team against us.

I'm relatively new poster in BC; this is still somehow makes remind somthing when I feel offended for somone (I forgot who) for changing avatar's pic with "Kholi's finger showing to ausie fans" in Bowing to his Kholiness thread. That player is entitled with the bold part which was somewhat proved there, also in other media & forums as well. We as cricket fans (any country) never deserve such action from such irresponsible professional performer represents a nat side.
No person should gets inspiration and puts an disgraceful figure on display. I would say showing up such as personal thing is insulting the target readers in disguise. Well, later I found Mods (thanking) actually forced to changed it with temporary bann, was very appreciating.

I would like to see his/her real image rather than amla. Nothing against amla, but rather the real person. See a lot of amla, but not the member.

Didn't understand, elaborate please. I'm having hard time interpreting your comment and I think you didn't understand the question/poll too in all respect

^I'd rather see the member pic rather than Amla - and the game against SA is irrelevant. The question of the poll was answered, and the backdrop of the question doesn't matter to me.

yes, both simon bhai and zeenat apu requested me kindly and by Allah, i did make an effort to comply with their request. i wanted to change my profile picture to a book i like entitled "Enjoy Your Life" written by Shiekh Mohammad-al-A'refe, i searched the internet for images of the cover of the book and i tried several times but BanglaCricket responded by saying the size is too big to format so i just gave up and didn't do anything!

Voted No .

My apology to guru and his shissho but Rifat bhai plz don't change your avatar. Keeping an avatar of an opponent team member shows how much respect we have for cricket. Changing it now won't make us feel any better.

But once you get bored, and think about a change, here are some options

The more serious question is this: what do we do with worldcup11's nick. It's so last year.

Hashim Amla alongside Michael Clarke, Mahela Jayawardene and Virat Kohli are four of my favorite non Bangladeshi batters, and my love of cricket is sustained by watching them bat whenever and wherever I have the chance. Amla's beard, Clarke's tattoos, Mahela's girliness and Kohli's perpetual sulking have nothing to do with why I like them.

Now, knowing Rifat from his posts in this forum, Hashim Amla's religiosity as well as his batting may have something to do with having the picture as his avatar but what is so wrong with that? So what we're playing against Amla this time around? To each his own as long as it doesn't violate Forum Rules with regards to avatars.

It is interesting that this thread is here and most people voted sensibly -- with even the "Yes" vote having more to do with the voter's curiosity rather than the any desire whatsoever to mitigate another poster's legitimate right -- but I hope we see such a thread for the last time.

@Rifat: I would fight for your right to be different bro, even when that difference is something I vehemently disagree with, as long as it's not hurting anyone or mitigating their right to be different as well.

Peace & GOD bless~

Yes. Very serious. What do we do with worldcup11 and his nick.

More seriously - the requests seemed to have been more in jest than anything else. And even if Rifat decides to change his avatar to that of Ashocker Da Silva, it his prerogative. He breaks no community standards of the forum.

I hope Rifat does not feel compelled to change his avatar. And if he does, only because he wants to.

Now let's move on. Nothing to see here.
