Default I don't know how to say this anymore...

One bright sunny morning, out of nowhere:

1. Send him in to open, he makes 98.
2. Send him in at #3, he makes a patient 50 and embarrasses India in the World Cup.
3. Send some idiots in between #'s 2 and 5 so that he can come out to bat when a #3 should, he almost carries his bat through and makes 86, takes us to 183 from 25/5.

He is not a slogger - don't expect him to come in after 40 overs and start throwing his bat around like his hands are on fire. But that doesn't mean he isn't a good ODI player. He is exactly what we need in a #3 right now. He is a builder, he'll take some time to settle down and then he'll knock 'em around for ones and twos and eventually go bonkers.

Give him a long enough run at #3 and he will give us big scores. He needs it, we need it. What more does the takla want? I could bow down to him, kiss his feet, drink the water that I wash those feet with, lubricate his taak with coconut oil - I could do all of it if that meant he'd send my boy in at #3. But this takla's one tough cookie - one tough, dumb cookie when it comes to setting the batting order. Aftab and Ash in the top order? Please don't insult my intelligence. I may not have played FC cricket, but I'm not a busty blondie who thinks Sachin Tendulkar plays for the Raptors.

This has gone beyond head-bangs on the wall. I'll try to suffocate myself and see if that works.

I'm with you 100%! Recognize him for what he truly is: one of our best top order batsmen with good technique and temperament. He IS the number 4 specialist batsman we've been looking for, and give the keeping responsibility to someone with better focus, range and positioning behind the stumps.

yes mushy to be pushed up the order along with naeem and riyad, and you know what? mushy and riyad's improved performance/consistency at the international level have come since they've been dropped from the national team, and worked hard and regained their places. before they got dropped they weren't performing nearly as well. mushy, riyad, naeem and tamim should be who we base our batting around with shakib being the next most important.

What options do we have for wicket keeping? Dhiman seems to have forgotten how to hold a bat. Perhaps Saghir? We don't necessarily need the new keeper to be a batter as well, but a few quick runs down the order would be nice. So who fits the bill? Sohel bhai?

I don't think many people are against having good bowling and fielding coaches alongside Siddons.

eshen seems to think mithun did alright in the SAG tourament and he's ana gressive batsman some a possibility perhaps? dhiman on keeping skills but yeah he can't bat these days. i'm sure some people will say anamul haque, but he should prob get some experience first.

Haven't seen a lot but enough to be demoralized at the dwindling standards. The local pitches seem to have gotten worse offering almost nothing to the bowlers. So the runs are coming for those not error prone. Guys who haven't been able to score have serious issues to work-out. I'd like to see the top performers perform consistently for a couple of more seasons and then developed through the A Team. Better chance of succeeding at the highest level that way. Will look at that thread closely and post comments once I've had the chance to see a bit more of some of the players on that list ...

BCB need to be proactive, don't just get a good bowling coach for the national team, hold clinics/camps for the top 20 (give or take) prospects and get quality coaches for them, not just with bowling but batting and even fielding. there needs to be support for everyone not just the national team.

Dhiman is still the best option IMHO. Pavel, believe it or not, is more streaky than Dhiman with the bat. Mithun is possibly the third option. I also like Shahin Hossain, possibly the best behind the stumps, definitely at par with Dhiman, but he's not the type of hitter you need for the shorter formats.

i have seen a lot of mithun, dhiman, pavel (sahagur), anamul and out of them Dhiman was the best.

if u have watched the SA games, mithun has dropped catches, missed stumpings and let balls go for byes down the legsides.

so mushfiq is still our best wicketkeeper and the best batsmen by far.

i will play him at no 4.

now yes the likes of anamul, mithun, could be drafted in the squad in place of ash, aftab.... a batsmen and then they can rotate the load of keeping with mithun.

Anamul IMO is too young. Way too young. I wouldn't want him in the side in at least another eight years. What is he now, 16?

i think the main options are dhiman and mithun in the shorter formats, maybe saghir and shahin can come into with the longer version, anamul is very young and we don't want to rush him. i guess nadimuddin has fallen off a cliff because he's gone from a good prospect to never being heard of.

He may not have the so called flair of the other top order batsmen--the likes of imrul, junaed, ash, etc--but when he bats he certainly does seem very compact-- to the point that the term has been associated with him ad nauseum, which I can't imagine as anything other than a great compliment for a Bangladeshi batsman, and for me he inspires more confidence than most others when he's out there in the middle...

Stubborn Taklu is sticking with the already failed batting order.

Agressive Tamim followed by fragile Imrul, Ash, Aftab and off-form Sakib leaving the capable batsman like Rahim, Naeem, Riyad way behind.

A smart leader can identify his team's strength and ride on players of "currently in form"... only stupid leader stick with predefined plan in stubborn manner.

I dont know why Siddons still sticking with the people who r definitely NOT IN FORM. This is just madness.

Send Mushi 1st down or 2nd down, followed by Mahmud as 3rd, then Shakib, Nayem.

As Siddons said "The top order needs to score". What Siddons is doing giving batsman a permanent spot to bat, which is good. After playing a good innings last game nobody send Oram out to bat at 3 or 4. Every player needs to find his comfort zone. Moving around too much makes a batsman very uncomfortable. Take it from me, i am a wicketkeeper batsman. Now, what if he is sent to bat at no. 3 or 4 next few games and doesn't score then he will lose the confidence he has. We have to identify our weakness upfront which is ASH. I think aftab deserves one more chance. On the other hand, Ash was responsible for Kayes run out, then got himself out cheaply and then dropped Taylor when he was in his 20's. I think we need to send Aftab to no. 3 (he deserves one more chance), if Junaid is not included in one day team, then bring Rakib back (he can't do any worse than Ash)

I am in total agreement with the posters view that Mushfiq needs to bat somewhere between 3 and 5. But I however cannot see why he can't also don the keeping gloves. Haddin, Dhoni, Akmal, Sangakkara have all done it successfully and for long periods. Mushfiq is definitely good enough to be a specialist keeper. While he has not been at his best in recent times, there are no obvious keepers queuing up to take the spot. His multi-disciplinary skills helps balance out the side and allows us to play an additional bowler/batsman. So in sum, I am sure if given the opportunity Mushfiq would excel both as a top order bat and also as a keeper.

Then people need to wake up! Siddons is no head coach material, the sooner we realize this is better. Have you been listeing to the commentators, I am sure you are...I am sure you are also following their gameplan for the last 2 month.

A smart leader would make adjustment, be proactive and so on....
