how can you want ash in the ODI team when he's averaged 10 in that format over the last 3 years? and riyad averages 15 in tests batting anywhere in the top 7 so why should he be in the test team? also why have rubel in tests and t20s? he's shown that he isn't very effective in those 2 formats. and shahadat for tests? for the last few years he's been as bad if not worse than the rubel's, robin's and shafiul's.

In all format I prefer spin heavy bowling dept. unless we are playing not the top 5 teams in seaming condition. I am a firm believer of going with the better equipped players without getting bogged down by the condition too much unless opposition batsmen are of Zim and BD caliber where unforced errors are a plenty.

Good thread Simon. I was also planning to open a thread like this. Though I opted to open Only about batting. So my following post is only about batting.
Cassic good players are good in any format. But some of our batsmans don't have adequate talent to play all formats.
Classic All format Players:
1. Shakib

4. Tamim
* I believe oneday Anqmul will be in this list.
Batsman those have limited ability should try to make them format specialist.
Test specialist:
1. Ash
2. Naeem
3. Mominul
4. Jahurul
5. Riyadh at #8 as all rounder only in spinning condition as 3rd spinner.
O D I specialist:
1. Riyad
2. Naeem
3. S N
4. Jahurul
5. Some one at #7 as a finisher.
T20 Specialist :
1. Shamsur
2. Ash
3.Shabbir Rahman
4. Nazmul Milon
So dear selectors its time to produce some format specialist.

maybe you should re-read my post. ASHRAFUL averages 10 in the last 3 years of ODI cricket, just because he got a 190 in tests doesn't mean he should be in the ODI team.

RIYAD averages 15 batting in the top 7 in tests EVER. as far as being an all rounder, his bowling isn't good enough in tests to be an all rounder, in ODIs and t20s it is but NOT in tests.

Shahadat, yes his overall average might be better but look at it more recently in say the last 3 or so years and it's just as horrible if not worse than the others. time to give more robiul's a chance.

now as far as picking rubel because of pace well who cares tons of bowlers have pace. even in BD there are other 140km/h bowlers like kamrul rabbi, taskin who haven't been tried. abul bowls 140 why not pick him? because he's horrible!

But I find it funny how some here have added Taskin & Shabbir, although they are yet to play their first intrntnl match.
I also want to see Shabbir for T20s & Taskin for both ODIs & T20s but this thread is more about formatting our players whom we have already seen playing, by now we already know who is compatible to which format.
Shabbir & Taskin are very good candidates for a debut in limited over format but we still don't know which format their performance will take them to.
