Should Anamul be our next Captain?
Its nothing new but Isam@espcripinfo rightly put Mushfik's captaincy under the microse based on our first ODI against the Windies:
Quote:
What also didn't help the bowlers was the general defensive approach, coming from captain Mushfiqur Rahim and the bowlers themselves.
|
Quote:
When the wickets kept falling, Mushfiqur hardly moved anyone into a catching position. Chris Gayle was caught at third-man, Lendl Simmons and Darren Bravo were caught by the wicketkeeper and Kirk Edwards was bowled trying to slog.
|
In fact, one of main reasons for most of our losses this year, 11 of which were in a row, were due to bad captaincy from Mushfik. It is time to move on and ask for a change. Mushfik is growing with his batting (and possibly with his wicket keeping) with every match (shame about the last one), perhaps he should just concentrate to up his batting ranking.
Anamul, in the mean time, could be our next best (if not 'the') alternative. With his current batting form and 3 centuries in 20 matches, he would gain a lot of respect from his poor performing fellow team mates plus I believe, he has a lot of experience in leading Bangladesh U19 team.
Shakib, being our International Ambassedor, would have been a better choice but I think his recent conflicts with the management and the behaviourial issues will prevent selectors to (re-)promote him.
If this was 2013, I would have put Nasir down as the other candidate but its too early for him IMHO....
Thoughts?

Mushy may have been the most improved batsman in the team but his captaincy has been poor. His defensive mentality has cost us many games. I thought he would learn from his mistakes but I was wrong. He is stuck with same old defensive mentality.
As the time goes by, I can only think of one name that showed some sort of aggressive and proactive mentality that is Shakib. I can't really think of any other alternative name than Shakib at the moment.

Let the kid perform consistently. Nasir and mamadula was in line. Their form dropped faster than sky divers.

Nope, Nope, and NOPE for pretty much everyone in the team.
IF not Mushfiq, ONLY other choice is SHAKIB.
Not sure how that's going to happen though.

I was talking to Fahmim last night and got my 15 seconds of air time on Radio Shadhin. One thing he seems to agree is the d-bag sissy (sue me for ad hominem) Riad a complete waste of spot as VC. Seriously. When was the last time this man took an iota of initiative to come to talk it out with bowlers on plan. Sickening. And Fahmim also said given Mashrafe's place in the team he don't see how could Riad be VC.
That irks me more than Mushy's captaincy.

Its his musfiq stupid decesion by choosing gazi over taskin was biggest mistake first of all , how could u ruin some emerging star of bangladesh lyk that , just one match no wicket and u wanna drop him ? Smh. ane Another Things I Don't get it is why gazi is even on the team , his Performance just Getting poor and poor, and I Don't see Anything wrong if Anamul becomes captain , musfiq so many Decision are Wrong

Shakib should be the captain. We don't need any VC, but captain can consult any senior player or the coach.

I still believe that Shakib was the right man for captaincy (he just needs to turn down his arrogance a bit). He is a born leader and has a better cricketing brain. If they want a change, forget about the dhud bhat, better bring in the main arsenal to lead the team.

I want Mash to lead us in ODIs and T20. But his bonding with injuries make me think otherwise. Shakib is the only one left in the team who is capable of leading us.
Anamul's time will come. Hopefully he will be consistent. But it's too early for him to lead us now.

Only three players in Bangladeshi current crop fit to lead the team-Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan and Mashrafe Mortaza. Shakib probably wont be considered because of his disciplinary issues. Mortaza may not be considered because of his fitness issue and unavailability in longer formats.
Mushfiq will probably stay because there are no other candidates. But perhaps the team is slowly losing faith in him. And i recall Mortaza speaking to Mushfiq behind the stumps "Bhoi Paish Na". Indeed Mushfiq seems to be showing too much of fear. Ideally he should have held fort against West Indies in the Second ODI instead of that careless stroke.

Fourth duck in 20 innings, 8th sub-10 score. He's either a either scoring big or not scoring at all completely unpredictable.

At most he could be an ODI captain , I'm the future, unless he proves to be useful in tests as well
