In many respects, Bangladesh resemble a village cricket team. They really only have one reliable batsman who, needless to say, opens the innings. They have a guy who fancies himself as a bit of an all-rounder, who isn't as good as he thinks he is but who it is pretty hard to get the ball off if he fancies having a bowl. They have a captain who regularly injures himself, the tiniest guy in the side gets to keep wicket and the rest of the team is made up of seven players whose only discernible reason for selection is that they weren't doing anything else that day. All of those seven bat and bowl, but none of them do it very well.

If this sounds like a slightly harsh description, it can almost equally be applied to their current opponents, New Zealand. The Black Caps also have only one truly classy player, who is their main bowler and their most reliable batsman. They have the village cricket side's mandatory fat guy, several sloggers, and at least one guy who only takes a bat to the crease because he'd look silly without one.
