বিসিবির সিইও মঞ্জুর আর নেই

ঢাকা: বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ডের (বিসিবি) প্রধান নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা (সিইও) মঞ্জুর আহমেদ মারা গেছেন। তার বয়স হয়েছিলো ৫৭ বছর।

বিসিবির মহা-ব্যবস্থাপক নিজামউদ্দিন চৌধুরী সুজন বাংলানিউজকে জানান, সোমবার রাতে আন্তঃমন্ত্রণালয় বৈঠক শেষে বাসায় ফেরেন তিনি। মঙ্গলবার সকাল গড়িয়ে গেলেও জেগে না ওঠায় বাসার দরজা ভেঙে ভেতরে ঢুকে তাকে অচেতন অবস্থায় পাওয়া যায়। এরপর বিসিবির চিকিৎসক দেবিশীষ চৌধুরী সেখানে গিয়ে তার মৃত্যু নিশ্চিত করেন।

বনানী ওল্ড ডিওএইচএসের বাসায় মঞ্জুর আহমেদ একা থাকতেন। স্বপরিবারে তিনি কানাডা প্রবাসী। বিসিবির সিইও হওয়ায় তিনি দেশে এক‍াই থাকতেন।

সমৃদ্ধ ক্রিকেট ক্যারিয়ারও আছে মঞ্জুর আহমেদের। বিসিবি একাদশের হয়ে আমন্ত্রিত এমসিসি ক্রিকেট দলের বিপক্ষে খেলেছেন। ২০১০ সালের আগস্টে বিসিবির নিয়োগ পাওয়ার আগে তিনি ব্রুনাই ক্রিকেট অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের সিইও ছিলেন।

তিনি জাতীয় দলের ভিডিও এনালিস্ট নাসির আহাদের বড় ভাই।

তার মৃত্যুতে প্রিমিয়ার লিগের ফ্রেঞ্জাইজি নিলামে এক মিনিট নীরবতা পালন করা হয়।

We didn't have an interview - he was a tad busy. We (Nasif and I) made a courtesy call on behalf BC.

I just wanted to add my shock and sadness at the passing of Manjur overnight.

He was one of the good guys, a genuine gentleman who you could talk to and feel he was really listening. My thoughts and wishes go to his family and Nasu, who must be really hurting right now.

Bangladesh Cricket is worse off for his passing and I will remember him fondly. RIP
