Mehrab Hossain Opee

http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/conte...yer/55970.html

He and Bidyut formed a pretty decent opening pair for us. Opee was one of the nicest looking batsmen in our team, he used to have a very solid punch shot and a fantastic drive as well. I remember at one stage, every kid in our block wanted to be one of "Opee-Bidyut".

Sajidul islam, still very young but had a lot of potential, where did he go?

http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/conte...er/227454.html

good pace, swing, one bad tour of NZ and he's in the doghouse forever, gone gone gone.

Sajidul was expensive , I guess that's why he was dropped. In the last test he played, Shahadat also played with him and got more wickets and gave away mush less runs.

Mehrab Opee was a great prospect. He was the first Bangaldeshi batsman to make a century in ODI and also the first Bangaldeshi batsman to score a World Cup 50. He got injured shortly after and after he returned, he wasn't the same majestic batsman anymore.

Mushfiqur Rahman Babu was an average baller in my opinion. Non-threatening medium pace. He picked up Tendulkar's wicket his debut ODI.

Manzarul Islam Rana RIP was an average baller IMO and one of the hundreds of spinners we have used.

I remember the series where Bangladesh lost all the games by 7 wickets and Mushfiqur Rahman was the best player[from Bangladesh] by some distance. I also remember Solanki or Trescothick sweeping the second or third delivery of our 'opening bowler', mr Babu

I saw Akram khan batting live once in my life in Sylhet, I was then 10-11 years old kid, Man surely I can say you that he was very aggressive batsman then, front of my eyes he lost three balls consecutively on three straight sixer, I was really impressed at that time of thinking how this fat man can move so easily and hit so quickly those sixers.

I saw also saiful bowling live too in Sylhet, I always wondered how can this skinny guy can produce such pace and both way swing and looked so fearsome , then off course those our sissy batsmen at that time made him look threatening and fearsome.

After watching Saiful I dreamed to become a phaast bowler, immediately I joined a local second division team which you didn't need any qualification at that time only you need to round your arm. While the first match I was playing I started to complain the captain why I was not giving bowling, then came my turn I got smacked all over the park so badly that some audience from out side started to complain the captain why I was brought to bowling, at the end my team lost the game , next time I gave away my dream to becoming first bowler.

Saw Dulu at the end of his career....by that time his belly was always ahead of him but the pace did not get lost. Saw Prince, Badsha bowling on TV. Don't know if Prince had more pace before but at that time it was medium. Badsha had cricketing knowledge. Nazim Shiraji is his relative........

I also loved the way Shanto used to bat. Now only Mash has that hitting ability..

NIAMUR RASHID

Only played 2 matches. Got 1 wicket and was dropped for giving away 66 runs in total from both matches!

No one mentioned the tall Mohammad Sharif? he debuted in Zimbabwe, and for about a year, he was the bowling prospect.. we lost him to injury at such an early age! he is only 27 now, and is taking wickets in the national league.. maybe he can make a comeback..

http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/conte...yer/55986.html

or not in a country of SLAs...

avik bhai is wrong, abid bhai is right, sharif was not tall, he was short. his u-19 new ball partner talha was tall.

ian botham was a huge fan of sharif as he always used to keep the seam upright after delivery, wheras other bowlers use to scramble the seam.

sharif was given a chance to comeback, but he is not the old sharif anymore.

There has been another pacer, Shajal chowdhury who had similarity with Sharif. Both are dark and short with well built physic. Both used to bowl pretty fast. But none of them could convince me much!!

shajal was faster than even rubel i feel but he was really wayward. those days speed guns were not available. otherwise he used to bowl about more regularly in the 90s than rubel i feel.

i remember sajal, anis and saiful playerd in a four nation tournament. that was also when rafiq and rokon got into the national team later when shanto came through he replaced shajal chowdhury
