BCB launches NCL T20.
"With a target to tune up the national cricketers for the forthcoming Twenty20 World Championship in West Indies, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) are all set to launch the first-ever National Cricket League T20 competition from April 11 to 20.
BCB has signed a deal with ATN Records to take care of the marketing aspect of the venture.
Six franchises will own the six divisional teams and Rubaba Dowla, consultant of ATN Records, informed at a press conference yesterday that some corporate houses have already shown their interest to own the franchises.
"I hope we can inform about the franchises on March 29. The prize money will be US$100,000 for the champions while the runners-up team will receive US$50,000 and there will also be other lucrative prizes," said Rubaba adding that they will take all steps to make the tournament a grand success.
"There would be no auction for the first tournament but we will try to bring the divisional teams under franchises for the longer-version tournament from next season. Salary would be restricted for this first tournament and the players will be financially benefited," said Mahbubul Anam, BCB's senior vice-president.
"We hope this single-league tournament will help our national players to prepare for the T20 World Cup," he added.
BCB's director Gazi Ashraf Hossain, also chairman of the tournament committee, informed that national selectors will play a big role to make sure that the leading players are distributed equally among the teams.
"If we want to participate in the Champions League T20 then there is no alternative other than introduce this kind of tournaments in the domestic calendar. We suspended the national cricket league one-day competition because of time constraint and we thought that it would be helpful for us if we play T20 cricket ahead of the World Cup," said Ashraf.
One team can register six foreign players but can field two in a match".
NCL 20-20? So it will be held right after PCL in Dubai?

How about Barishal Vagabonds?
None of those players belongs to Barishal, they are playing for the team because their original divisions don't want them.

As this is domestic cricket, I am sure that Rok will be able to play. anyhow, great contest to give the players a chance to have some practice. Also, it will be easier for BCB to pick the final 15 squad.
Guess Mash will not be around, he is warming the bench for KKR and having a good holiday.

Good idea, I hope this franchise system is extended to include the 4 day first class competetion. That will hopefully make that league more competitive and solve the low pay issue.

I hope so. BCB should try this initiative and ask ICC about this.
