I hope that the next batch of players enter the national team better prepared than the current lot.

Good point Rabz bhai. It seems like he didn't play cricket at the first class level, but achieved a great deal as development coach, which resulted in him being appointed as the ICC Development Manager.
"Ross Turner has done an outstanding job as Development Manager of the New South Wales Cricket Association in Australia (over 9 years). In that time, he has grown the development department to 11 full-time employees and has made a major contribution towards restructuring the organisation and the presentation of junior cricket in NSW, resulting in unprecendented support for the game there."
"He played 17 years grade cricket with Northern District CC in Sydney, winning three premierships and was Captain of the Year on three occasions."

Agreed.
Only if the BCB gives him the mandate! They must, if we are to produce better quality players.

Its great that our top cricketers are coming accross world class coaches and getting access to modern facilities/equipments. But this wont change the overall standard of our cricket much. We have to make sure the cricketers all over the country are getting adequate support. But we can't give a Siddons, Pont, Fountain to the cricketers outside national/A-team/accademy sides. So the best thing to do is train their coaches by Siddons, Pont, Fountain. Without proper coaching we will have another generation of half decent cricketers.
Our national cricketers earn reasonably well comparing to the other professionals in the country. Still we reward them with blocks of lands (and whatnot) every now and then. But we can't provide a ground to the little kid playing on the street, not even a pair of shoes. গাছের গোড়ায় পানি না দিয়ে শুধু উপরে পরিচর্যা করলে লাভ হবে না ।
By the way, I believe we need some coaches/ওঝা for our cricket administrators first.

Awesome news. Specially the following lines.
Quote:
everything is under process to extend the tenure of Julian Fountain (fielding coach) and Ian Pont (bowling coach).
|
but what's up with this? How are we satisfied with getting bundled out for 58 and 78?
Quote:
The board feels that result-wise our performance was not bad and we are satisfied with that

Good question. Bulbul is obviously a qualified person to run the academy, but I fear, as a Bangladeshi himself, it will be hard for him to detach himself from board politics and to keep things rolling for the academy. Even if he is offered the job, I doubt Bulbul will take the risk of becoming next Shakil Kashem or Khaled Mahmud, he has a much brighter future with the ACC.
