I think, now its better to organize a public vote and every one should accept the result, which they want ? a) Current Law b) Secularism c) Sariah Law Posted via BC Mobile Edition (Opera Mobile)

Just because it was 40-odd years ago doesn't excuse the crimes they've committed. Just because it was 40-odd years ago doesn't mean we should simply "drop the subject" of the horrors committed in the liberation war. There are people still alive who were and still are deeply affected by what happened back then. Surely you can't just expect them to "let it go" without seeing anything done about it.
No but occupying a square and chanting "xyz er fashi chai!!" Isn't the most elegant way to demand justice. No civilised society does that.

There has always been a sizeable minority in Bangladesh asking for Shariah, yet we are no closer to having Islamic laws than we were in 1972. So let them ask for it, as it wont change the status quo, but dont forget that it is their right as well to ask for it.
Beating female journalists is wrong, and so is beating old men for supporting HEI.
I did not say 'implementing Sharia Law is like moving to Pakistan'. I quoted 'vepu' s comment as he mentioned Hefazot E Islami people want to go back as 'east pakistan' !
1/ I did see thousands of men in the streets of Bangladesh coming out from their caves to demand an Afghan (read Taliban) style government. Not surprisingly, I hardly noticed a Flag of Bangladesh on this rally
2/ They demand establishing Blasphemy law but never for once ever complained when "Vested property act" oppressed the minorities of Bangladesh for around 40 years. Is islam all about oppressing the minorities??...
3/ They want to leash the women, enact shariah law...... If you think oppression would open your door to heaven...please think again....
4/ Next time you(supporter of this movement) talk about Islamophobia, Please look at yourself in a mirror, even I am scared of you and I am a Muslim.

I don't really have appetite to argue with these Awami extremist thought, all I can wish that please continue your Naked Dance of Holi thinking that u are all powerful to vanish Islam and let the Mollas do their extremistic Jihad... And I know the result..both will perish... Like BAKSHAL didn't last and like Taliban didn't last...extrEmists will perish... By natural law...
I don't have any sympathy for such rotten minds ....breeding extremism...be it Islamic or the other extreme, Continue...I'll start enjoying even from this thread and if u survive we will meet.... AL isn't that powerful as it was in 74 and neither Jamaat is that powerful a force like Taliban... Continue sir....it will cost my country but what to do...carry on
Bangla Bhai was dealt properly??
When Bangla bhai was reigning terror, the statement from the government was " There is no such thing as Bangla bhai, it is a media creation" .... They denied existence of bangla bhai for a long time... Infact it was only after Serial bombing (60+ bombs) all across Bangladesh when Government was forced to deal with them.
Why did they wait so long?
Because Bangla bhai was a part of Jamat before and Jamat is an alliance of BNP during the rule...
Where are the Udichi killers btw? Who were the people who bombed the cinema theatres?
Who are the people who killed innocents during Pohela boishakh?
Extremism existed long before ICT!!! Accept it.
They attacked everything that symbolises Bengali culture, its not hard to determine who these men are, these are the same men sponsored by the same group of people who never Wanted Bangladesh in the first place. The same people Shahbag wanted dead and buried...
This is what will happen after Islamic education is established.
From my all-time favourite movie. (Starts at 59 seconds)
Who runs Telecom, Water, Power, Atomic Energy with Qawmi Education?
Not much difference from that scene and this picture from today's daily star:
Ki marttok! jei lokta ekdom garir kachey chilo - i hope he is okay! 3 talai jodi heat jai - taholey oi loktar na jani ki obostha. Can you ask your friend if they are okay?
And yeah, I agree with zsayeed bhai. What happened to the two guys closest to the car? One idiot actually seemed to have thrown something onto the burning car as well at 0:03-0:04
What this shapla chottor and jono shomudro makes 1 thing clear
- There is a vast amount of people unhappy and fundamental to the nation
hence
- The Government - whoever it may be MUST alleviate the situation of the common man. It is time to narrow the gap of the super-rich and the poor in Bangladesh.
- It is time to tackle corruption and ensure that the common man have their necessities fulfilled.
- It is time to listen to the suffering of all.
Or else - a revolution will take place - which if designed after the Original Long March may not be a bad thing to jolt Bangladesh into productivity and progress.
Forget about Islamic Revolution - Bangladesh needs a meritocracy revolution.
^^ That was 200,000 people - organized - and experienced from organizing mass religious events in the country every year with 5 million in attendance each year (since 1946) - such organization is nothing to be scoffed at - to do so would be at one's own peril!
The blue-print is there - only the outcome to be separate.
Someone better listen and improve the lot of the common man. BAKSAL was for that - now you will have to listen to the Krishok sromik - or the clergy. But, scoff, mock, ignore, denigrate, degrade - one cannot!
If the 13 points were updated to a more modern context of anti-corruption and inclusion for the sake of progress and equality - they would have more in their midst. Guaranteed.
The original Long March started with 100k people - this is way bigger than that - and the 5 million congregation each year - would topple that number by an order of magnitude.

Why not educate them, giving them an opportunity for proper education and fulfilling their basic rights - isn't state is responsible for it's people?
Lead/teach them to see the lights, exporting/killing them won't help our cause in long run as production will continue - doesn't matter if you like it or not!

Not true according to the video posted on al Jazeera...
Notice at least 2 flags in the background, meaning that there must be more outside the scope of the lens. Not as many as Shahbag for sure, but then again is anyone keeping count?

Agree with you in principle, patriotism should not be judged by number of flags.

Seldom do we see eye to eye on issues, but I applaud what you've mentioned here especially the bolded part. The importance of economic welfare of the common man trumps everything else in today's context.

Exactly. Don't put them down - don't under-estimate.
Make life better for them - so that they may contribute positively. That is the only way.
And it does not matter if they carried the flag or not. They need not.
Sneering and deriding them would be folly.
