nice. i think we have the ability to beat sri lanka and pakistan (will be tough though). south africa and india will be tough, but zimbabwe should be a walk in the park (no offense to the zimbos, but they really don't have an U-19 squad that's good enough).

unfortunately, the region of south asia, along with south africa, hosts some of the world's strongest age group teams, so i don't see our boys doing anything exceptional. however, the experience should be invaluable, and i am excited nevertheless.

Interesting thing is, even thought we consider ourselves 'among the best' in age group, we NEVER played in the 2nd round of u19 world cup.

come on. we're not among the best. we are below india, pakistan, england, new zealand and south africa for sure.

we're among the best for the plate competition, though :P

It will be interesting to see how our young boys compete against the rest as they will be the one in the national team in 5 yrs of time competing against the same guys in international level.

No doubt the difference in standards of BD and other Test nation's age group teams are not very remarkable... yet the difference in corresponding National teams with BD National is huge! This sure shows the massive importance of the 'Post-age-group-cricket-structure' in any Test Nation which ultimately transforms the star boys of cricket into super-star men of cricket. BD surely is among the weakest when it comes to maturing and grooming the young talents and convert them into solid international players!!

One thing I'm pretty sure of is we are not in a state where we can beat any of the sub continent fellows. SA and Zim might give us a chance. McInnes showed prowess in UAE, Zim, and Aussie, where there is no regular U 19 team structure. But this is where he was supposed to face a real challenge against Sub Continenet opponents. It would be interesting to see how BD can recover from loss of McInnes (Recent tour of HP squad in SL was not that impressive, was it?). Probable champs of U 19 WC, I guess, are here among the three (Ind, Pak, SL). I'd be happy personnaly if BD can beat SA and Zim.

our u-19 pounded SL recently, twice too. remember that?

of course they pounded us in the final, but hey we beat em 2 outta 3.

u-19 anything can happen (we beat australia who were supposed to win the whole damn thing).

not only that, but our u-19ers ARE MUCH CLOSER to the other test nations than our national team.

plus, we will be playing in our "home" conditions in india.

never underestimate the power of BD SLA spinners

When did that happen? Or, are you talking about the U-17 Tourny in Malaysia?

Looking at it, I guess a very possible first eleven can be-

Nazmus Sadat
Mehrab Jr (LHB)
Mehedi
Tamim
Shakib(LHB, SLA)
Mushfiqur
Marshal (part time leggie)
Nazmul (RM, hard hitting bat)
Shuvo (SLA)
Dollar (LMF)
Kamrul (LMF)

That leaves two pacers on the bench- Aslam and Humayan (not sure about him though), and one SLA- Nabil Samad. Would not it be wiser to have an extra batsman instead of one of those extra bowlers?

well then, you're pissed without a reason

i don't think anyone's low on moral here - the fact is that we are facing the best among the age group teams, and it will be great if we can beat a few.

Expecting a lot from Musfiqur Rahim. I believe he is our next big star and I will love to see some good innings from him. Mehrab Jr, Tamim and Shakib should do well also.

If I remember correctly, it was a HP squad that toured SL last month. The squad included players like Farhad Reza and Nazimuddin who are not eligible for U/19 anymore. Just can't remember our boys officially beating SL U/19 recently.

Anyway, if I were not enthusiastic about our boys, I would not waste my time to write all those posts.

I think TheWatcher is right regarding HP squad beating SL HP squad. SL U-19 is too much of an ask for BD U-19 to beat them, at present. Let's see. Also it's important how BD U-19 can show they are recovering the loss of McInnes and progressing in the same vein with Allister.

I rate these U-19 matches more than our national team's tours. The current national team is showing no promise. This team will reamain in the 10th spot unless the young boys fill into their shoes and then there is a hope that we will be ranked 6-7th position whenever that happens. So the more exposure and matches the this U-19 team gets the better it is for our test and one day future. Best luck for these young tigers.

It didn't happen. As Al-furqaan has corrected himself it was U-17.

I wonder, if the fans low-moral pisses you off, what happens when the when the players moral is down? I guess you start breaking things (glass), no? Moreover, how do u feel when the players play bad? Pull out your AK 47?

There are certain things we cannot control. We must live with it. So just relax and instead of getting pissed off try to raise others moral.
