Mahmud grows into captain's role
By Scyld Berry -Telegraph UK (article will be posted)
New article in Telegraph provides a rather good comparison I thought. Here are some qoutes:
Quote:
One of the Bangladesh selectors who appointed Mahmud says they chose him for being 'mentally tough' when, by implication, most of the Test players were not; and Mahmud attributes this quality to the formative influence of these club matches.

Quote:
The cricketer from whom Vaughan has learnt most about batting is the former Yorkshire captain and coach, Martyn Moxon; and most about running between wickets from the Australian, Darren Lehmann. Mahmud has learnt most from Steve Waugh
|
Quote:
If you ask him why these games between Abahani and Mohammedan at cricket (and football and hockey) were so intense Mahmud, who played as a professional for both sides, diplomatically says he cannot account for the rivalry.
|
To his credit he handles the press pretty well and especially his answer or non-answer on the Abahani-Mohd rivalry.
The article also touches on the issue of cash disparity between Vaughan and Sujon; roughly 350,000 for Vaughan a year compared to Sujon's 7,200 pounds.
A whooping difference!
