Default Remember 23rd March 2007 ??? Bring on 17th march 2011

Hi EveryBody ...

Do you Remember what happened on 23rd march 2007 ??? OK, let me refresh ur memories guys. that day there was an crucial Group B ODI match of 2007 Cricket WC between INDIA and Srilanka at Queens park Oval, port of spain.

in BD u will have almost 50% indian supporters. the rest 50% being Pakistan supporters, also can say them anti Indian Supporters.

But that particular day everybody, the whole Bangladesh was supporting SRI LANKA or anti Indian. they wanted India to lose as that will help BD's qualificatopn to the Super 8's. BD earlier beat India in their group match and then lost to SL. india's lose to SL meant BD would only need a win agaisnt Bermuda and no tension if NRR.

i remember that day. we had our RAG cultural program on that evening as it awas the last day of my graduation at Buet. we started the program early and as soon as the game started around 7-30 PM or 8 PM we finished the program and started to show the game live on the BUET AUDITORIUM big screen. SL batted first and then scored a 250ish score. then when india batted they lost wickets at regular interval. and every wicket was cheered with huge roar. at the end of a game we made a rally as if BD has won and went TSC campus, DU to celebrate BD's qualification (almost ensured) to super 8s.

4 years later 17th march 2011. England vs WI at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai brings us to a similar situation. all the BD ppl will forget the hammering WI gave us and will now support WI that day. a win for WI will bring out a hige celebration in DHAKA. every England wickets that fall will be cheered with huge roar.

cant wait for the next 2 days .....

For that day to become important, first we need Ireland to lose to South Africa today. Hold your horses.

I will hate to see Ireland win more than anything. Although I think SA is the hardest team to beat for teams of our strength.

Exactly....Ireland is tough one...I would say BD should n't rely on whats happening on other match..they should focus on their game against South Africa

And that also changed in an hour...cricket is a funny game SA 270+. Still gota admit Ireland as a unit showing great promise...

back to the thread topic, lots of team had good luck...but we really want this game result to be in our favor...but Eng is taking it very seriously as they rested key players in practice...The way SA is playing I rather depend on luck..

Today Ireland looks like the old Bangladesh.

So one down, one more to go, and we are in the QF before we beat SA. However, if we do get the free ride, we will need to do some calculation before South Africa match as we would like to have our preferred opponent in the QF if possible.

No Srilanka as then we will have to play the QF in Srilanka, also no Pakistan as they always beat us, damn those club teams for letting all Pakistani players make Bangladesh their home field.

You mean by current standing? Hehe, you are giving public some early hope. Our chances look better to beat SA since they will be more complacent now as their position in QF is secured. But we still have to beat them or WI has to win against Eng. It would have been nice if Eng had lost that game against India, we wouldn't have had any worries.

Why making life so complicated? We will beat SA and jump onto QF - see it is that simple!
