Dhaka seeks Pak apology for 1971 genocide; Hina for moving ahead turning back to the past!

Dr. Dipu Moni demanded that Pakistan acknowledge and unconditionally apologize for its crimes against humanity and the Bangladeshi people during 1971, and her (considerably hotter) Pakistani counterpart Hina Khar pretty much told her, and most of us not including RazPols and Bangalistanis, to simply let bygones be bygones and move forward!

1. Pakistan must apologize for the atrocities done in Bangladesh in 1971.

2. Pakistan must put the 1971 perpetrators on trial.

3. Pakistan must compensate Bangladeshi victims of the atrocities in 1971.

4. Pakistan must repatriate all Biharis from Bangladesh.

5. Pakistan must give share of the wealth before 1971 plus interests to Bangladesh.

Only then, we can move forward.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has decided to pay a three-day official visit to Pakistan to attend the D-8 summit in Islamabad scheduled for November 22.

Hasina goes to Pakistan against the background of her government asking Islamabad to settle all pending post-independence issues. Dhaka has demanded an unconditional apology from Islamabad for the genocide Pakistan carried out during the Liberation War in 1971.

Of course her party the PPP and its millions of supporters played their part in actively supporting their crimes against humanity and the Bangladeshi people in the name of "national and Islamic" unity. In fact, their hero Bhutto (may he rot in hell) was one of its primary architects.

Pakistan tells Bangladesh to ‘bury the past’

DHAKA – Pakistan told Bangladesh to carry forward bilateral ties by ‘burying the past’ when former East Pakistan demanded a formal apology from Islamabad for the alleged excesses committed by its troops during the 1971 war.

Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, who was on 6-hour tour to Dhaka, also invited Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to attend 8th D-8 Summit to be held in Islamabad on November 22.

The apology issue came up in a meeting of the foreign ministers of the two Muslim South Asian states, which had began their journey of freedom together in 1947 as a single state but were separated in 1971 as a result of Pakistan-India war, preceded by New Delhi-stoked insurgency in the Eastern wing of the united Pakistan.

I think Hasina should pay visit to Pak. Khaleda's visit to India is equally appreciated. I think there is a conscious effort in the region for resolving all internal issues and move ahead for greater economic interest.

Logically a Pak apology will make the way smooth, but all the others look very un realistic. Bihari's have been granted nationality here and financial claims are unnecessary, if we want to move forward.

You may have forgotten, out of those 35 years, our past ruling parties (i assume you know who they are) were more interested in making 'Bangladesh' a part of 'Pakistan' just as before 71.

It will still be difficult, specially for the families of the victims and those who have witnessed that situation. But, then almost all the stories of the history of wars that mankind has witnessed are like this. There is no pleasure in the history of war for a human beng. Yet a sincere apology can be a feel good factor for them even if that can't heal the wounds, to move forward, considering that these things won't be repeated against anyone. Preserving enemity, hostility & Hatred neither helps the victims nor good for preventing future atrocities. If anyone sincerely apologizes, he should be given a chance of being human.

Sorry for the blanket generalisation, but I will say they do not educate their youth on anything and are in denial over everything. Yesterday on BBC, they were in denial about Malala Yusufzai and believe her story to be a foreign conspiracy. As far as education policy goes, have a read from this on their education policy, written by my father's civil service batchmate from pre-1971.

A steaming pile of crap if ever a country was one. They have only themselves to blame. I dont "need" an apology from Pakistan. I am proud to be a Bangali and Bangladeshi and proud of our achievements inspite of Pakistan.
