Star Bangladeshi opener Tamim Iqbal will not be playing in the first Test against Zimbabwe that is starting from April 17 at the Harare Sports ground. Tamim had injured his thumb while fielding during the first ODI against Sri Lanka at Hambantota during last month's tour to Sri Lanka. An X-ray taken recently to ascertain his recovery has indicated that he will need more time before he can be declared match fit.
The Bangladesh team operations manager Tanjeeb Ahsan Saad reported to the Daily Star that "the X-ray reports suggested that he (Tamim Iqbal) will need more time. Tamim will miss the first Test and it’s not certain whether he will be fit for the second Test. He is improving but the progress is very slow,”
